Word For The Day, September 24, 2013
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
toploftical [top-lawf-tee, -lof-]
-adj
condescending; haughty.
[181525; top1 + lofty]
Who doesn’t LOVE a goalie fight? It’s like Sumo wrestling on ice!
Larry the cable guy?

Wherein Tomes Sowell is outed as a RINO enemy of the people.
It seems injuries and bizarre incidents are taking alot of teams down.
Hernandez,Smith,Jones, Goodson, Did the NFL stop monitoring players?
Its never been good, butt his season has been...interesting.
I would consider his comments, in the light of Scooter Libbys conviction.
Libby was never going to be acquitted. And should have been pardoned.
In that Arena, you would be fighting a battle on unfavorable ground, that there is no chance of winning, and damaging the prospects for winning the War.
The only it would make political sense, is at the very end of the term, to lay out the laundry list of Scandal, and explain to the electorate, that you are trying to set terms for the future.
Besides, no one in their right mind would cast a Senate vote, to put Crazy ole Joe in the Oval Office. ;)
You think they even have any sort of “morals clause” in their contracts anymore?
I was being tongue-in-cheek. I think there is value to having a vote on a “defunded” CR. It lays out, with all we know right here on the eve of Obamacare, who is still for and against it.
But it is not going to be defunded. Obama has a veto. It will roll ahead.
Those preparing to die on this hill and waiting to claim everyone is a traitor who doesn’t are vastly overestimating the position we are in.
As I have said for a long time, we have to experience Obamacare in order to repeal it.
I really can’t see getting involved in a series about self-made misery-there is plenty of the real thing around-the science channel, history 2, maybe a movie-all more cheerful...
When I was a case manager, I saw a few people turn-stupidly-to drug dealing when an injury limited their income temporarily. Without exception, since they lacked experience, they were quickly busted and jailed, workers comp benefits cut off, do not pass go, do not collect $200, no drama, no sympathy...
Unenforced.
I agree that it is worth a lot to force the wusses out of hiding, from whence they can be set up for the possibility of being airlocked, politically speaking next primary season...
Without sin and misery we would have very few interesting stories.
Maybe it is just me, but having seen a good bit of that firsthand at work, I crave happier amusement. Even in my own circle of acquaintances-three of my friends are dead by their own hand in the last 3 1/2 years-none of them had exhibited anything unusual at all, no notes, calls or other warnings to anyone-just suddenly took themselves out.
Learning new things, laughing, etc is a good therapy to shut out an insane world for awhile each evening, before going back into the thick of it the next day-when the creator of our latest misery index is living in Hawaii again, the world may come back to balance...
I’m totes with you! Hockey brawls are amusing and hockey is all i will watch. At least wedding planning gives me diversion and I’m xs’ing a baby gift. Haven’t even read anything since atlas shrugged marathon reading.
I really enjoyed the wedding planning for the cub, even though in the last week or two, she was as loony as that Teresa Cristina broad in the Miami-based novella, “Marido en Alquiler”-I hope any bridezilla moments are few and humorous...
I’m almost done with “This Perfect Day”-done with the nail-biting parts of Chip and Lilac’s adventures in the collective-it gets better now. I did the pay-per-view thing for the first time in 6 years over the weekend and watched Star Trek Into Darkness a few times, which I enjoyed very much-it was about terrorism, but unlike in the recent real world, the good guys won in the end...
I’ll buy an imported beer for anyone who can cite a popular song (had to reach the Billboard Hot 100) that included the word ‘toploftical’!
I’m sure we will have our moments but for the time being we are just being brutally efficient and decisive : )
Uh huh-just keep that mindset and everything will be fine...
