The news that hundreds of scientists and officials from all over the world are this weekend converging on Stockholm to discuss the next 2,000-page report from the UNs Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) again highlights what is the most terrifying political conundrum facing our country today. Emerging in instalments over the next seven months, this report will try to convince the world, without a shred of hard evidence, that the prospect of catastrophic man-made global warming is extremely likely.
The air is already thick with familiar claims and counterclaims, President Obama quotes yet another laughably silly paper trying to make out that 97 per cent of scientists support the IPCC consensus. Sceptics point out yet again that the lack of global warming over the past 17 years makes a nonsense of all those computer-model projections on which the IPCC has been basing its case for 23 years. And we can only look on this endlessly sterile non-debate with a suffocating sense of déjà vu.
In essence, the argument has not moved on an iota since 2009, when I published what is still the fullest historical account of this greatest scare story the world has known, in a book called The Real Global Warming Disaster. Even then, it was abundantly clear that the IPCCs computer-model projections were being disproved by what was actually happening to world temperatures. It was already clear that not one of those predictions being made by Al Gore and others in the days when the warming hysteria was at its height was coming true.
This very weekend of September 2013, we were being told back in 2007, would be the moment when the Arctic was ice-free. Yet this summers ice-melt has been the smallest in seven years,

there’s too much money to be stolen
For Al Gore, that’s some pretty unsettling settled science.
I love the comments sections on British sites. Only here do you see derision condensed into such gems as “You pompous beligerent sock!”
Good stuff, thanks!
OK!! Everybody pay attention!
Lesson for today:
1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.
2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls our climates.
3. The earth is a rock.
4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.
5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.
Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?
I can't understand why the warming lobby are not embarrassed.
IMO it's because this isn't about the science to them, or (in)accurate computer models, or evidence. It is about a cause. Limbaugh called it a religion a long time ago and I thought he was going overboard. For some of these folks it truly is a religion. Damn the evidence, they won't be convinced that their cause is foolish and cannot be substantiated by the full range of facts. Others, like Gore and a lot of these IPCC guys, have a greater interest in gaining influence and money.
