I have seen posts of that design in many locations, I believe in several countries. It never occurred to this male to imagine them as anything other than concrete posts.

Some people put way too much thought into what they see around them.
With that said, I think they each could have done with two more rings - one in the middle and one lower down.
Our town had to suffer with the Hurley Pots for years.

Commissioner Eileen Meyers, who represents the 1st Ward, said she didn’t see the bollards before they were ordered and conceded that she would have preferred “something more antique. I think they’re too modern for that area.”
Umm, Eileen, if you want “antique” obstructions, you are going to have to go salvage them yourself. Anything that you order is going to be modern.
