Martinelli’s Apple Juice

“That’s not a problem with Martinelli’s. Our Gold Medal Apple Juice is made exclusively from U.S. grown, fresh apples, not foreign concentrate, and contains no added water, preservatives or sweeteners. All our production facilities are maintained to the highest quality standards. We are independently certified for Kosher and organic processing and have received an Excellent rating in audits for food safety and quality by NSF Cook & Thurber who performs independent quality and food safety inspections for the food industry.

We buy our apples directly from local farmers with whom we have long-established relationships. The apples are thoroughly washed and hand-sorted to remove any below standard apples, then milled, pressed and pasteurized for purity to create a bottled juice that tastes as good as biting into your favorite apple.”

upstate has many orchards...we use to pick “drops” very cheaply as kids, take them to the cider mill, and make apple cider.....you can freeze gallon jugs in your freezer and it comes out just like freshly squeezed...

You can purchase a cider press relatively cheaply nowadays.

Getting the good blend of apples, winesaps etc, is a bit harder, and seasonal of course.

My local supermarket...is now labeling the *origin* of the packaged meat.

I was dismayed to learn my ground meat purchase may be from *Mexico, Canada, [lastly] USA.*

I’m not upset enough to shop somewhere else.

They also used literal human body parts for make up, and when caught, said it was only meant for the domestic market there.

I check my cantaloupes, mangos, etc. to make sure they’re not from Mess-i-co.

Some of the produce coming to the US is grown on Mennonite and Mormon colonies in Mexico.

Me too. I try to avoid Mex-imports too.

If I can’t buy fresh asparagus in January...I’ll survive, somehow. :)

I went to another local chain in the PNW, Haggen's. Same deal. Their store brand was made from Chinese and Chilean juice. This is at the same time their company opposes any expansion by Costco or Walmart in the area. They even tout their "buy local" program.

Uh, got news for ya...about 90-% of all Apple juice concentrate in U.S. drinks is from China. And guess what...honey too, and garlic, and Vitamin C and many other food ingredients and supplements.

I forgot about garlic! Thanks for reminding me.

Whole Foods is the only place honest enough to put *China* on their signage near the garlic...I’ve not found another green grocer who does admit to it.

What’s wrong with U.S. apples? We don’t have apples here? Honey, I just found out that a lot of that is from China as well. I doubt that kosher vitamins have stuff from China, but I’ll have to check that out as well. And, we don’t grow garlic here in the U.S.? Got to go to filthy China for that, too?

Where I live, virtually every orange in the market comes from China. They are cheaper and better tasting than the local variety anyway, even if you can find them.

So, sorry, I’m not buying into your xenophobia.

Oh, and be careful how you slice your tomatoes.

In NYC, you can go to a farmer’s market (the biggest is in Union Square, but there are others around town) and buy apple cider produced by growers upstate, with their own apples. Much tastier than mass-market apple juice! I like the cider from Caradonna in Marlboro, NY. As for orange and grapefruit juice, Florida’s Natural is a co-op of growers in Florida, and therefore they use only Florida fruit to produce their juice.

Go for a touchy-feely name to feel good and that’s what you get. The catchier the name, the more suspect the product.

Watch it! The Free Trade Communists who support Free Trade with Communist China will attack you for bashing Communist Chinese products. First...they must consult Chairman Mao’s Little Red Book....

Many of our American food products are from....or contain items...produced in Communist China. Much of the American made foods are now shipped out of America subsidized by American taxpayers
