A popular 15-year-old student has committed suicide after he reportedly faced expulsion and could have been placed on the sex offenders' register simply for streaking at a high school football game. Christian Adamek, from Huntsville, Alabama, hanged himself on October 2, a week after he was arrested for running naked across the Sparkman High football field during a game. The teenager died two days later from his injuries and on Wednesday, friends and family gathered at a memorial service as they struggled to comprehend the beloved student's death. A video of Adamek streaking during a game against a rival team was posted on YouTube hours after the event and students took to Twitter to call him a 'legend'.

Sparkman High Principal Michael Campbell told WHNT a day before the suicide attempt that the teen could face major repercussions because of his actions. 'There's the legal complications,' Campbell said. 'Public lewdness and court consequences outside of school with the legal system, as well as the school consequences that the school system has set up.'
In Alabama, indecent exposure is linked to the state's sex offender laws, meaning that he could have found himself on the sex offenders register due to the streaking.
Campbell added that that the incident was not just a prank and needed to be treated seriously. Sparkman High administrators even recommended that Adamek face a hearing in the Madison County court system to determine if formal charges would be filed, WHNT reported.
Adamek had also been disciplined by the school district but the details had not been made public. The day before the suicide attempt, the principal had confirmed that Adamek was not at school and the teenager's sister suggested on Twitter that Adamek faced expulsion, AL.com reported.

Read the article. This boy was previously in trouble at school. How many strikes had he had before? We will never know.
If he had refrained from killing himself a bit longer, the naked teen would have learned that "high school administators" are among the most easily dismissed people on the earth. Pay absolutely no attention to anything they tell you. Ever.
Boys who grab a girl's butt or urinate in the woods can find themselves on the same list as the people who rape infants.
I doubt that.
A grown woman streaked a golf tournament last week on national TV and received a citation for disorderly conduct.
A week after the incident involving this 15 year old boy, no formal charges had even been filed.

I did a 10 minute Google search and came up with ZERO.
A week after the incident, the kid was still attending school, he had not even been suspended.
I'm going to speculate that this young man may have had psychological issues before streaking and being arrested.
A senseless tragedy, yes.
But minimal research - either by the young man or by his parents - would have provided reassurance that expulsion and sex offender status were NOT going to happen.
I went back and reread the article. I found nothing that suggested the boy had been in trouble before. If I missed it the 2nd time, please post the quote.
My Grandparents got married at the age of 15 & 18. They were married till death and had 5 children. Of course, times were different then.
This was back in the 70s. Everyone just thought it was funny. It's all because of that song.

This kid had other issues going on we just don’t know about. You don’t just kill yourself unless there are deeper issues.

When a gay kid gets bullied and offs himself, no one blame's the kid's "issues" at all. When a principal bullies a kid (threatening to arrest him, put him on the sex-offender list for life, getting expelled, etc.) it must be because the kid had issues?
If only a 15 y/o kid, who spent his whole sentient life being taught that school admins are gods, would be smart enough and cynical enough for a 40 y/o man. That's why we draw a line, however fuzzy, between a child and an adult.

Wonder if the story would be different if there was one in the picture? Someone to say, "Son, that was stupid." then love him enough to help sort things out.
And then, if a kid gets naked as a prank, they decide to ruin his life forever.
Well it’s more like a war on (especially young) men, think if a young girl had done this (not unthinkable in today’s society), they wouldn’t be calling for putting her on a “sex offender’s list”.

My grandparents met when he was 26 and she was 16. He was a decorated soldier coming back from WWII. They were together 60 years until his death and had 8 kids. These days he’d be a life long sex offender and most of my family would never have even been born.
I would bet this boy had other issues he was dealing with to go so far as to kill himself. Very sad, but I do think this PC Zero tolerance is out of hand. It seems to me boys especially are just not allowed to be boys and grow into real men and that has to be tough.
I guess I do not understand why it was not treated as a prank? Streaking was considered a prank by everyone in the 70s, I thought it was silly and could not imagine why anyone would do it, but no harm came of it that I know of. People laughed and went on with their lives.
The only time I saw anyone punished was one night I was in a bar owned by a tough old gal- some guy streaked out of the men’s room and on to the packed dance floor- the gal that owned the placed grabbed a broom and chased him, swatting him hard over his butt with that broom- until he fled back into the men’s room real quick like.
I remember that case. Happened in GA I think.
