It will be a while before they make any fruit, but there is also a banana tree outside my window.
The landscapers usually grab those while they are still green.

I ‘m not fond of sweet tater fries, but like them most other ways, especially baked sweet taters or sweet tater casserole.
My rain gauge has been collecting rain water for three days. I had almost three inches in it. Poured it out and starting over for this week. We’re going to have rain all of this week.
My 10 feet tall “T” squash has leaves turning yellow and so do the Sesame plants. That is likely due to too much water as it has rained here almost every day for weeks. I don’t know what to do about that.

Wow, this was our first rain for Oct. I am now recording our rainfall and will also record first frost and freeze, though that info is available online, I want MY dates here at the poodle ranch.
Does your squish plant have drain holes in the container? I cant remember what it is growing in.
I have found I can grow plants, but cant diagnose sick plants, even though I search it online. Sick plants are terminal around here, for the most part.
Wife has had some success lately. She took seeds from a hibiscus we have and has 14 sprouts coming up. Silverhill Poodle and Hibiscus Ranch.
My wife is collecting seeds from the various Texas wildflowers that line the highways here, with the plan being a wildflower garden out back in the lower 40 where we tilled a small patch two years ago. I’m gunna put a decorative fence around it for her, then she will want a bird bath, feeder, and ... and on and on.
Yes, the squash is in that barrel that has a plastic floor in it and below that floor is where the water goes. The water can only reach a certain height before it starts pouring out of a hole on both sides. The roots never sit in water.
The Sesame plants are in a container with a hole in the bottom.

September 27th was the date my “Marcella Recommended Growlight” arrived. The 28th I planted pak choy, and toy choi, and placed them under the grow light. Today, 17 days later, I transplanted the pak choy into the garden.
I noticed that of my direct seeded toy choi, and wa wa tsai, I planted three weeks earlier..there are 3 toy choi, and one wa wa tsai left. I hope the transplants, which are about 6 inches tall fare better than the direct seeded ones. The four remaining, out of about 50 plants are only about 2 inches tall.
I shot a possum this morning. He went into an empty unbaited trap which was out in the middle of the yard where I had cleaned it.
Oh, and I bought stuff for Mel’s Mix after watching a video on making it. Tuesday and Wednesday 10/15 and 10/16 are good days to plant above ground crops, by the moon’s phases, so tonight I will decide what to plant for my next starts under the fabulous “Marcella Recommended Growlight”, and tomorrow I will also move the toy choi transplants out into the garden.
I am really glad you got the grow lamp. No critters can get your seed when they are safely under the grow lamp in your house. The little seeds sprout quickly and grow fast until they can be planted outside.
If you remember, I lost every seed to birds and squirrels when I planted seeds outside. It made no sense to repeat that futile exercise again. Then I got the grow lamp and the seeds sprouted and grew plants fast like crazy. Every seed germinated and now those plants are outside in good health making food.
I planted french marigolds under the grow lamp at the same time as the toy choi, and wa wa tsai. Only half of those came up, and only one seems to be doing well. Weird.
Think I'll go open my unbaited trap in the yard, and see if I get any varmints.

Article about the WH garden going to pot. Looks like my tomato vines without the tomatoes. Eight foot okra, ha! Mine are nothing but bare 2 foot stems thanks to the deer and she’s (aka her gardeners) worried about birds and squirrels.
Woohoo, drizzles for two days! I ate the first 3 Porter tomatoes yesterday (yes, they’ve been in the ground since March/April). They were ok but not as big as I’d hoped. Shaped like a roma but much smaller. Maybe 3-4 times the size of a cherry.
