Had one howlin right outside my window (in S. Austin) one morning. Woke me RIGHT up. I’ve seen them several times, mostly in the early morning.

I have never heard coyotes howling here in Houston like I have in south Texas but I do hear a yapping sometimes down toward the bayou. It could be a dog yapping but it sounds different. Our next door neighbor saw a coyote come through our back yard and into his, when the critter saw him it ran. I saw one at 1pm in the afternoon, I couldn't believe my eyes.
