Auburn pulls out thrilling win over Manziel, Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Nick Marshall accounted for four scores and No. 24 Auburn battered Johnny Manziel in a 45-41 win over No. 7 Texas A&M on Saturday.

Tre Mason's 5-yard score with less than 2 minutes to play was first placed at the 1, but it was reviewed and ruled a touchdown.

A&M (5-2, 2-2 SEC) had a last chance, but Manziel, the Heisman Trophy winner, was sacked by Dee Ford on fourth down to secure the win.

Manziel threw for 454 yards and four touchdowns and ran for a fifth score, but was intercepted twice. He missed a series in the fourth quarter with an apparent injury to his right arm or shoulder. He returned but was constantly moving his right arm.

Marshall threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 100 yards and two more scores for Auburn (6-1, 3-1), which lost 63-21 to the Aggies last season.

Texas A&M's Mike Evans had a school-record 287 yards receiving with four touchdowns to become the first player in school history to have two, 200-yard receiving games in a career. He scored on receptions of 26, 64, 42 and 33 yards.

Auburn entered the game leading the SEC with 287 yards rushing a game and piled up 379 yards rushing against the Aggies. Mason led the way with 178 yards and Corey Grant added 45.

Manziel connected with Evans for his fourth TD on a 33-yard pass -- that Auburn was called for pass interference on -- giving A&M a 31-24 lead late in the third quarter.

Manziel was injured when he was tackled on an 8-yard run early in the fourth quarter.

A.&M. has many freshman on defense. They allowed Rice to score 31 points in the early season. That should have been
the warning -but nothing can be done about it. Most teams that A.&M. played this season have run up scores to the 40somethins.

You cant expect the QB to score into the 50s to win the game.

The man I was dating and I went to Scottsdale. The night before the game, his 2 sons decided they wanted to go. Well, one came without a ticket so guess who did not get to go. Yep, little ole me. I have no ties to AU except through him and he played there. As it turns out, that was probably the best decision I could have made. His dr told him in March that he has ms so he probably can not go to any more bowl games. The 3 of them will have that memory forever. I went to State.

Everyone on my wife’s side of the family (except for her Gator-loving younger brother) are ‘Noles fans. So I could handle the Criminoles in the BCS Championship. But Ohio State? No way. Part of me wishes that BAMA would square up against the Buckeyes in the BCS game because it would be a repeat of last year with Notre Dame.

The replay booth cannot call penalties that are missed on the field. On a target hit, they can put the player back in the game if they over turn that part, but cannot overturn the penalty. Thus, even if every ref on the field missed the call, the booth cannot change it.
