Can anybody verify this?
It is not beyond the realm of possibility for this government! It would make sense. You can’t afford ObamaCare due to income, so they move you to Medicaid/Medicare where there are already provisions for confiscating your wealth.
Positively diabolical.
The goal of Communism is to destroy the middle class through job loss and getting them hooked on government.
“We will destroy the middle class through the millstones of inflation and taxation.” V. Lenin
They’ve been doing it for years in my state. They take your house or any assets when you die.
They take not only the profit, but all the proceeds. This is not from obamacare, but has been true for a long time. You are allowed to keep very few assets when you are a medicare patient. If you have a spouse, the spouse may keep the house, and car and a few other things until the spouse passes. The gov will then recover the cost of care from whatever assets are left. That is what your assets are for, to take care of you in retirement. Why should I pay for your parents care and let you inherit their property. I have my own parents to take care of!
Well that is true, but it did not used to be mandatory/involuntary to go on Medicaid.

If your on medicaid your not eligible for obamacare...

True, but I’m talking about the other way around.
From Medicaid.gov
State Medicaid programs must recover certain Medicaid benefits paid on behalf of a Medicaid enrollee. For individuals age 55 or older, states are required to seek recovery of payments from the individual’s estate for nursing facility services, home and community-based services, and related hospital and prescription drug services. States have the option to recover payments for all other Medicaid services provided to these individuals, except Medicare cost-sharing paid on behalf of Medicare Savings Program beneficiaries.
So they can certainly put a lien on your property to pay for Medicaid coverage and assisted living costs if paid by Medicaid.
From HHS
Highlights of the 1993 Estate Recovery Mandate:
States must pursue recovering costs for medical assistance consisting of:
Nursing home or other long-term institutional services;
Home- and community-based services;
Hospital and prescription drug services provided while the recipient was receiving nursing facility or home- and community-based services; and
At State option, any other items covered by the Medicaid State Plan.
At a minimum, states must recover from assets that pass through probate (which is governed by state law). At a maximum, states may recover any a
In this list, it may mean they can put a lien against your home for “other items covered by the state medicaid plan”. And it certainly could mean that they could put a lien on the property to recover hospital costs.
Here in upstate NY, Excellus just dropped their Medicaid people.....200,000 people across the state...about 60,000 here in Monroe County alone notably most are Rochesterians...a Dem welfare area.

I don’t have a problem with this. As far as I know it’s not true with Medicare though. Of course they don’t pay for long term care...
My spouse is on Medicaid. It was set up by our attorney in a way to protect the family assets when she has to go into long-term care. (she is not well)
We have insurance that covers everything except long term care. But 8K a month for nursing care can take all the resources that a family has if it’s not shielded. You need a lawyer for that.
Thanks for all the discussion and info, it gives me a headache though. B-P All I can say is shows us one thing, The Man is out to screw us.
That’s good. All those liberals who think they’re going to inherit anything from me are in for a surprise.
Said the same thing to Dad yesterday. zero is doing what Stalin did to the Kulaks, just not so harsh...now.
Yuns is spelled yunz.
Have not / will not watch the video but yes, Medicaid Estate Recovery (MER) is very real.
I had looked this up a couple weeks ago (varies somewhat by state):

I hope no one going into E.M. is unaware of this.
