You’re thinking of “Try to Remember”

Sting did a good version

Many artists covered this song but the definitive cover version was done by the Muppets.

May he rest in peace, and may that song rest with him.

Rest in peace, Noel.

I think it is a great song, but not one to listen too too often.

This version is very good, and much more listenable:

Just a note: Windmills of your Mind won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1968, which actually be a dishonor given the source of the award. Nonetheless, I have always like the song and the movie for which it served as the opening number.

I love the association.

from “everything that touches you”

In my most secure moments, I still can’t believe
I’m spending those moments with you
And the ground I am walking, the air that I breathe
Are shared at those moments with you

The song’s melody was beautiful. Bud Shank had an album out ‘Windmills of your mind” and it was played over and over and over again by yours truly. The original movie was good as well McQueen and Dunaway had a chemistry in that movie Never saw the remake....didn’t care to.

All I’ve ever known was the Ed Ames version. I like it.

The one that did it for me with The Association (and also Bread) was the lyrics to "If". "Cherish" is a close second. I'm also not big on the Muzak style arrangements.

If the world should stop revolving
Spinning slowly down to die
I'd spend the end with you
And when the world was through
Then one by one the stars would all go out
Then you and I would simply fly away

And where would they go?

It is amazing how times go by fast especially as an adult. If we were kids, it may seem like a long time.

I always associate it with "MacArthur Park" -- two stoned out, hippie mega-anthems from the same time period.

Someone left the cake out in the rain.....

I’m glad I scrolled alla way down, because I too was going to insert “Left the Cake in the Rain” into the mix.

I like Windmills, but Mr. Harrison recorded A Young Girl, which is truly a dreadful song.
