One of the reasons for being glad to be as old as I am is that I may be spared living to see a race war in America. Race wars are often wars in which nobody wins and everybody ends up much worse off than they were before.
Initial skirmishes in that race war have already begun and have in fact been going on for some years. But public officials pretend that it is not happening, and the mainstream media seldom publish it at all, except in ways that conceal what is really taking place.

After Florida Democrat Alan Grayson compared the Tea Party to the Ku Klux Clan in a recent campaign email, conservatives — and anyone who respects the truth — have spoken out against the congressman’s outrageous rhetoric.
Despite the fact the KKK was populated almost entirely by Democrats, Grayson’s ignorant statements reveal that he either has no idea what Tea Party members believe or is willing to blatantly lie about them in order to further his fundraising efforts. Furthermore, he purposely ignored the fact that a great number of principled black Americans are proud adherents to the movement’s conservative values.
One of the most outspoken of these men and women is former Florida Rep. Allen West. The principled Republican conservative appeared on Fox News recently to criticize not only Grayson but the Democrat party as a whole for the left’s silence on the issue.

Only because Iraq and Afgan were not dealt with quickly and harshly enough and then we turned them into giant welfare recipients.
There are many feral young adults in prison for drugs offenses. Because of this the crime rate is lower than it otherwise would be. There seems to be a push now to release these ferals because the punishment is said to be far more severe than the crime warrants. While I agree with this argument, I expect that if enacted the crime rate will rise.
Re #3 and #4 and schools
It is impossible for any sentient human to be religiously, culturally, and politically neutral. Such a state of neutrality can not exist in the mind of any human. This is true for schools as well. Our nation's compulsory K-12 socialist-entitlement schools have **never** been neutral and are **not** now religiously, politically, or culturally neutral. They are, and always have been, a First Amendment and freedom of conscience abomination.
My suggestion to turn all of our nation's K-12 socialist-entitlement schools into charters, and establish vouchers and tax credits. The goal should be eventually complete privatization of all schooling from pre-K through to the highest levels of university graduate school with charity supporting the poorest. If we had tax exemptions equal to the true cost of raising a child, educating a child should not be a financial problem for most parents.
Only in a private school can the politically incorrect teaching and consequences that both the children and their parents need be dished out in heaping shovelfuls. It is impossible for any government school to do this.

For those of you who read the article you might have noted this: “...Birmingham (“The Tragic City”).” The reference was to what Birmingham was called for many years, “The Magic City.”
Like many I am a big fan of Sowell. This is probably the saddest thing Thomas Sowell has ever written, and I am sure it broke his heart to write it. But unlike almost every other columnist/cheerleader for their side in the media, Thomas Sowell is willing to set aside emotion and look at cold facts. For that, my admiration for him has gone up even more.

Agreed on the druggies. The media likes to pretend prisons are full of little angels who smoked a joint once but didn’t inhale. BS. In reality few make it to real prison except hard core offenders with long criminal careers and many chances blown. Many drugs-only convictions result from plea-bargaining, where the hard-to-prosecute serious charges are abandoned; the sentencing guidelines are not oblivious to this. Cutting sentences for possession without ending plea-bargaining would definitely increase crime and victimization.
The object of public schools is to provide employment and benefits to union members; children are the subjective justification for their ride. Breaking the stranglehold of leftist unions on public schools through vouchers, charter schools, and laws against collective bargaining is fine with me, though the overall problem goes beyond schools. Children have to learn responsibility and values from their families long before school age; it is very hard to fix feral habits once ingrained. Feeding the current problem is that too many progenitors are incompetent, disengaged, amoral morons, who lack the wits to demand quality results from any sort of school. Herding feral children into Charter Schools will undermine Charter Schools. I’m getting more pessimistic the more I think about this.
Never concern myself over the “race war” concept anymore.
In NY/NJ/CT, the housing is still pretty segregated, but it’s based on income/wealth, not race. In the areas that are not supermajority white, there is now no majority, NJ has immigrants from ~90% of the countries on Earth, and hundreds of ethnic groups.
Sure, there are some overarching connections between the immigrant groups, religion, food, language, etc.
But you tell a Bangladeshi American and an Iranian American that they would be natural allies in a race war, they’ll both laugh at you and go back to hating each other over religious/doctrinal differences that predate the founding of America. And all their kids/grandkids wear Abercrombie and listen to pop music.
SO besides the Mexican cartels finding some financial reason to make a legitimate push to take over real physical control of US towns in southwestern locations, I don’t see any sign of a race war in this country.
Also, the African-Americans in the inner cities of NJ/NY have more cultural common ground with native born white Americans than they do with many of the dark skinned immigrants who have swarmed into the inner cities here.

Another point that needs to be understood is that the “low-information voter”, when provided this information will summarily dismiss it as “racist propaganda from the right”.

If you’re ever one on one with such a person,
or if you’re in a situation where you can reply to such a “dismissal”,
simply remind the person that they have not refuted the statement - that, as Sowell says, requires intellectual effort.
All but a few conservatives are just as bad in a different way. “Oh if they would just all vote conservative, just vote those socially conservative values they have hidden somewhere deep down inside, everything would be OK. Kumbaya!” Or, “it's not race, it's culture”. People create culture, culture doesn't just descend from heaven (or ascend from hell) and fall on certain groups of people. Blacks create Africa everywhere they appear in large numbers or gain political power and/or rule-Detroit, Haiti, the “new” South Africa, Jackson MS-the list is endless and without exception in areas where blacks rule or have enough numerical presence to influence culture, politics, etc.
Conservatives also have “IKAGO” syndrome. They naively believe that because they know a few black people from work who “don't act like that”, that you can't “stereotype”. There are a number of things going on here. First-the 5% don't disprove the 95%. Second-they’d be surprised at how that nice Dr Jekyll in a suit at work becomes Mr Hyde when he's amongst his own tribe ( and tribal is the appropriate word, blacks will advocate for their own-even the most brutal murderers, such as the black men and woman who tortured Channon Christian and Christopher Newsome for days before finally murdering them. They sat down to eat breakfast as Channon slowly suffocated to death). Their supporters made their presence in court-not just their families sitting quietly, but also friends, and other Knoxville blacks who took up their defense merely because they were black too.
If only whites were so “tribal”! But we believe in the concept of justice for murder, especially one so heinous as the inhuman acts done to Christian and Newsome. If the races had been reversed in this particular case, whites would have been sent to re-education camps. We're lucky that we weren't when Zimmerman shot one of these “teens” to stop him from beating his head in.
Thomas Sowell and the very few like him are anomalies. Even they can't completely swallow racial realism and the concept of HBD. If they could, they'd realise that “diversity” and “multiculturalism” are mutually exclusive, and that yes, indeed, some cultures are superior to others.
Once the left realised that assimilation to American ways, at least its highest principles, assumed that very thing, was when they dropped assimilation from their agenda and took up “multiculturalism” and “diversity”.
I have always wanted to ask a leftist or a naive conservative who spouts “diversity is our strength”-why? Why and how does it strengthen this country? And if they give me some silly answer about cuisine, I think I'll shy a cast iron skillet at them.

Barack Obama is half-white but has decidd to identify as completely black, and blacks see him as nothing but black, or so they profess. If the shootng starts, no one’s going to ask to see anyone’s family tree-things will shake out about like they do now where the rich child of black parents who have some white ancestry get affirmative action preference over the poor child of white parents who have some Indian ancestry.
I thnk that too when I’m feeling disgusted with the naivete of conservatives. But then I picture regions where conservatives are the majority-even the naive conservatives believe in and practice their Second Amendment rights, and in my mind’s eye, I can see where if bands of roving “teens” came to their communities to visit harm upon their wives and children-I don’t doubt for a second that they will band together if possible, and and with extreme prejudice prevent those “teens” from raping, torturing, or murdering their wives and children-they aren’t going to just stand there like leftists and wring their hands while they whine “But I’m one of you! I support your cause! Here, I’ll prove it-you can have my wife and kids!”. The stupid anti-self-defense moron leftists won’t understand that the “teens” were going to “take” their wives and kids anyway, before murdering the whole lot of them-hopefully with a quick death by shooting instead of some “fun and games” with the stupid YTs first (as they did to Christian and Newsome. It’s not called the “Knoxville Horror” for nothing).
If a Black Conservative had been elected POTUS rather than a Marxist Race Baiting Community Rabble Rouser, there would be less Racial animosity coming from the Black Community.
A Black Conservative would be an example of Opportunity, where Obama is an example of the failure of Affirmative Action and Liberal excuse making Politics.
When lying is accepted by a majority of people to protect a Bankrupt Ideology simply because the speaker is an African American, there is no hope for redemption.
