Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama plans to urge Congress on Thursday to take back up comprehensive immigration reform.
The White House says that Obama will make the announcement on Thursday (at 10:35 a.m.) The statement will be delivered in the White House East Room.
Commonsense immigration is good for the country and its the right thing to do. It will grow the economy, reduce the deficit, and has broad support from both democrats and republicans, business and labor, as well as law enforcement and faith leaders, a White House official said.
The President has made clear the key principles that must be a part of any bipartisan, commonsense effort, including continuing to strengthen border security, creating an earned path to citizenship, holding employers accountable, and bringing our immigration system into the 21st century.

Screw this obama bastard for all that he’s worth,...the S.O.B. is determined to ruin this country. What kind of nightmare did all those “hope and change” assholes who voted him in get us into?
If you liked the ObamaCare train wreck, you’re going to love Barry’s “immigration reform” Titanic moment! 50 million foreigners suing the government because they can’t sign up for ObamaCare. Barry’s “fundamentally transformed” America is the largest freak show the world has ever seen. And the whole world is laughing!
Yep, just like whenever a rat says it's "affordable" you need to hide your wallet.
I do believe he needs more “willing” people to sign up for his failed health care.
Where is the common sense to opening the Borders to anyone who wants to walk across and then giving them food stamps and Social Security checks.
Yep. come on over. Don’t learn our language. Don’t assimilate. Get free healthcare. Collect welfare. Make babies and bring your family over. Oh, and be sure you all vote for Democrats. That’s all just common sense.
Obama is a Communist that is overwhelming this country with one crisis after another to destabilize it. When do we stop him?
We should have stopped him in 2012. We kind of shot ourselves in the foot in the primaries though. Hopefully we have learned from that.
“We kind of shot ourselves in the foot in the primaries though.”
Romney was fait accompli before the primaries ever came to Texas. Talk about feeling powerless. That crap has to stop.
