I am not wishing harm upon anyone, I am just wondering how much damage will be done tonight in a city that has declared bankruptcy and that law enforcement is already decimated.
Is Devil's Night still pretty violent in Detroit?
ping
In the city proper, there’s not a whole lot left to destroy.
I’ve read about it. My guess is that it may be worse this Halloween than in previous years.
10 million dollars of improvements?
Its not what it once was.
Its relatively warm tonight but rain is moving in.
The zombies of Detroit could burn the whole city down, for all I care.
Consider it urban renewal. BTT
Not much, likely.
Don’t say that! There could be dozens of dollars in damage!
Is there anything left to burn?
This sort of thing peaked back in the 80s. These days Flint is a more likely hotspot.
It helps that Detroit has so many armed citizens these days. I remember reading a few years ago that some Devil’s night fires were likely neighbors eliminating crack houses.
well possible, I watched the fires from a high rise 15 years ago, folks burning down their own neighborhoods, kind of like jeez jamil, look at my house burn, those friggin racist let me have the matches, what am I to do now, dont worry Jamil, obamma mamba jamma lenin khomeini will save you from yourself, and if he cant we will blame whitey.. so woooord to your mufva..yo...
Not gonna’ stop FReepers from wishing it so. They need to feel superior to somebody.
These days they would shock people if they actually cleaned up some of the rubble.
Post 16.
It appears that the behavior is far from exclusive to Detroit.
“Last year, Detroit Mayor Dave Bing reintroduced Angel’s Night, where volunteers would patrol the streets to help cut down on arsons and crime.”
I wonder how that worked out.
Some kinds squirted some hand lotion or something on the back of my van a few years ago here in suburban Pa. Same year a few neighbors had their pumpkins that were sitting outside smashed. That’s about the extent of anything bad happening in the 13 years I’ve been living where I am now. Can’t even imagine living in a hole like Detroit.
