Exactly! That prison they’re in is a deathtrap; and it’s not going to last much longer as a refuge. I’m surprised it’s lasted as long as it has. We’re seeing death from both inside and outside of it. As in any horror movie, locking yourself IN is a loser strategy.
What they should have done is relocate to an island. They’re far enough south where the winters shouldn’t be a killer and they wouldn’t have to worry about zombies until the people on the island die, at which time, a bullet/knife to the head fixes that.
Inevitably, the zombies are going to win out anyway; it’s a numbers game, sort of like the numbers game here of producers vs. takers is.
RE Island:
Some years ago, there was a remake of Romero’s “Dawn of the Dead”; at the very end (in the outro while the end credit music rolled), they got a boat and found an island. The boat was out of fuel, so they were kind of f*****. As they pulled up to the dock, the dog they had with them leaped out and ran into the brush... and was chased back by a horde of ravenous dead.
In that scenario... there is nowhere to run to.
I’m not big on Zombie shows. If I wanted to watch those, I’d turn on the PBS Sunday Public Affairs shows.

I remember when I saw the original “Dawn of the Dead” in the theater in 1978; it was such a shocking change from the old 1940s “zombie” movies.
I found it compelling; a real shift in the SHTF/TEOTWAWKI scenario.
As they got progressively more grotesque and gory over the years, I lost interest in them. But “The Walking Dead” came along, and it looked interesting to me, so I started watching it.
As stupid as some of the Hollywood writing is, they still managed to do a pretty decent job with it.
Overall, I give it a B+ as horror/sci-fi goes.
To my mind, “Aliens” still tops the bill... kick ass monster movie (aside from all the lib crap in it).
I think I saw parts of that flick. Well, a “clear” island needs to be picked. :)
One of the best parts of that flick was where they cleared a path through the horde surrounding their truck with a propane tank explosion...
The special effects employed was really neat.

I think the first “Alien” movie is a top of the list all-time great horror flick. the creature still gives me chills.

Yes. Although it’s getting PC (which is one reason I’m getting bored with it).
I don’t remember seeing that; I’ll have to watch the flick in its entirety.
Also - 1982’s “The Thing” with Kurt Russell is and always will be THE monster movie of all time to me.
The 1953 “Thing From Another World” Original (from the Novel “Who Goes There?”) scared the crap out of me when I was little; but when John Carpenter re-made in ‘82, I went to the theater with my girlfriend to see it on the big screen. The part with the dogs REALLY freaked out folks in the theater; girls were screaming and crying at the sled dogs being eaten, and the alien splitting itself OUT of the one dog was too much... I never heard so much yelling at one time... guys AND girls. It was hilarious (not the dog splitting, the reaction to it).
It was remade in 2011 as a “Prequel” to the 1982 version - this one takes place at the Norwegian base that found it initially. That one was well-done too. Worth a watch.
I saw the Kurt Russell version of “The Thing” a very long time ago; I’ll have to watch again.

Ana Alicia Ortiz is pushing 60 now. I remember seeing her in reruns of “Ryan’s Hope” from the ‘70s where she played an immigrant nurse. She was very cute.
Pamela Sue Martin was cute, too (even if her forehead was a bit big). She also didn’t hesitate to shed her clothes for Playboy and some “women in jail” movie. She quit Dynasty before it ended and doesn’t act anymore as far as I know.
