Teen motherhood linked to many human rights problems: report
EurActiv ^ | 31 October 2013

Adolescent pregnancy is related to a “whole string of human rights violations” and so it must gain more attention in global development policy, says the UN’s World Population Monitoring Report. …

Some 7.3 million teen women give birth every year. 2 million of these are under 15 years of age. Every day, roughly 5,000 girls give birth. Yearly, 70 million young women lose their lives during pregnancy and childbirth. …

“The rights of young girls cannot be trampled on any longer,” said Renate Bähr, the executive director of the German Foundation for World Population.

“Teen pregnancies can only be successfully avoided, when girls are given equal rights. Above all, they need better prospects on the labor market. In addition, the girls’ entire surroundings must be involved: their families, the partners, teachers and political decision-makers must all play a role.” …

They may have something there. Teen pregnancy caused a huge problem on August 4, 1961

This could easily springboard into all girls must be given IUD or injectable contraceptives until X age.
Though much of the problem is simply Islam, where you see 10 and 12 year old girls married and then impregnated.

Another excuse to justify world-sanctioned family planning, e
.g. Abortion. Like the eternal grievances needed to support Communist causes such as global warming, poverty, racism, etc. it is another pseudo-reason to kill more of the unborn.

Oddly enough, birth control is a good idea, but it is merely a UN smokescreen for unfettered abortion.

Teen “motherhood” is linked to overly generous welfare programs.

Yup.

This report should be a finalist in the “No S#it Sherlock!” competition for 2013.

We are “progressing” towards forced abortions on teens. Only the West will do it to their citizens. Teen birth violates human rights. Evil is good and good is evil.

none of the numbers add up first line 7.3 mil give birth then 5000 a day 5000 x 365= 1,185,000

the 70 mil dying is 191,780 a day seems high to me

would like to see the source of the number is probably numbers from some un group

"70 million"??? Does anyone else find this statistic suspect, if not unbelievable? Unfortunately, the article doesn't elaborate.

"Oddly enough, birth control is a good idea..."

No, wac, it's not. They don't need bith control. They need self control.

And I don't mean that in an entirely disparaging way. I mean it n the sense of real self-governance. We need to empower young girls to say no to exploitative sex. And that includes forced marriage in the Dar-al-Islam.

They need the real, universally accepted, socially reinforced, legally protected right to be in control of their own bodies, in defiance of statutory rapists, coercive pimps, Islamic customary law, Hollywood and Madison Avenue, pimps, porn, and Planned Parenthood.

I think abstinence can be a good thing, but at a certain age, not realistic.

Yeah, it is, at any age. It can be hard, but no harder than marriage.

BTW, most people marry too late. My husband and I did. Late marriages are usually preceded by decades of sexual advenurism that leads nowhere, hurt, confusion, sadness, disappointment, alienation, dead-end relationships with people of the opposite sex, etc. I'd like to cut that out as much as possible.
