Homemade Peanut Butter Cups

I am what you might call a recovering junk food addict. One that had an especially strong penchant for candy. And while I've managed to get my sweet tooth under control in recent years, I still have quite a weakness for homemade versions of classic treats. Being able to create them without preservatives or strange ingredients makes this a justifiable weakness, I'd dare say.

It is very bad that I found this. Really very, very bad.

I am doomed.

There's no need to fuss with tempering chocolate ...

Then it's not really chocolate.

Me too. I got to craving them and have gone through 2 snack size packages, sharing a few . . . normally they weren't my favorite.

Funny this should get posted. I was looking the other day for a knockoff recipe and this one looks better:

Home made peanut butter cups - fifteen spatulas

One of the secrets (imo) is to up the salt a little in the peanut butter. That's what it tastes like Reese's does. Also the Reese ones the peanut butter is a more solid consistency.

They sound like too much trouble to make. I will keep buying them but not at the convenient type stores. My grocery store has the 10.5 oz snack size for $3.18? Something like that. Will check again.

Misery loves company :)

That’s what I’m going to do. Dark chocolate. I have been to the Hersey Store in Hershey, PA a few times and they have them for sale there, but they don’t go mainstream with the distribution.

I have a shortcut version: Trader Joe’s sugar free dark chocolate bar and natural peanut butter of your choice. (My preferred taste: Keep both in the refrigerator). When it is snacktime, simply break off a piece of chocolate and dip into the peanut butter. For a more formal version, make a chocolate/peanut butter sandwich. Delicious!

Touche!

That reminds me of a a joke a friend once posted for Hot Dog Soup.

Boil hot dogs in water. Remove. What’s left is Hot Dog Soup.

For Deluxe Hot Dog Soup, chop hot dogs and return to pot. Do not skim scum.

I am what you might call a recovering junk food addict.
One that had an especially strong penchant for candy.

****************

FYI only....
...Perhaps a nudge towards some willpower for those in need--like me.

I discovered that we really do turn into "addicts" for refined carbs (sugars-etc) and certain fats...

Between our daily/weekly patterns, & taste-buds preferences...
.... along with certain brain-enzymes that govern appetite/hunger needs...

We really do become "addicted to food"...

Hello everyone....
--My name is Wings... and I am a food addict....

*************

The good news is... you don't have to stay that way.

Thanks to a distant relative who was dangerously obese...
We discovered a simple and comprehensive nutrition plan that reverses the "default" trends.
....eating the wrong stuff and gaining weight..
ad infinitum.

My relative saved his own life -- undoubtedly--
... and helped us turn the corner towards healthy eating patterns.

Since early summer (5 months)-- I am down almost 50lbs...
Still a ways to go.... & losing 9-12 lbs a month.

It's not a "diet"
--OR--
Some pop-TV "--$@#&*&^-System"

It's been a very rewarding lifestyle change.

No coupons, discounts, or commissions for me here...

I just know how widespread this need persists among my circle of friends--actual and online--

I am happy to share the source of this simple, comprehensive nutrition plan (via a ministry website--not mine) with anyone who asks...

Be ready to lose weight--
Men & women reporting 100+ lbs "wins" are common-place.

FREEPMail your inquiry-- I will send you the links.

Have been making sort of these for years. Peanut butter, butter, and powdered sugar. Mix it all together and press down flat to cover the bottom of a baking dish. Melt semi sweet chocolate chips and pour over the top. Let set.
No need to mess with the cups, etc.

Not neccesarely. I could take them off of your hands, if they're troubling you that much.
