Companies Say Goodbye to the 'Burbs
Yahoo Finance ^ | 06Dec13 | Lauren Weber

When Motorola Mobility lined up a Silicon Valley candidate a few months ago for a VP-level role, the phone maker was hopeful he'd accept. After all, the company offered the chance to develop products at a subsidiary of Google Inc.

The engineer declined. His reason: the prospect of relocating to Libertyville, Ill., about 35 miles from downtown Chicago, said Scott Sullivan, Motorola's head of human resources.

For one, I realize where this article is coming from. But, obviously Weber hasn't talked to any of the GINORMOUS companies that are moving to Georgia. They're staying well away from that urban paradise of the commonly known, THE A-T-L.

When all those young, energetic, entitlement deserving, hipsters have a kid or two, be the victim of violent crime, or get tired of the taxes required to live in a big city, get tired of the homeless and the activist…they will move.

I can only envision how much better Irving -- and all of Texas -- would be if the criminal invaders were sent back to Mexico. That suburb is now only 64% white and that number continues to decline as the debris of the third world continues to pour in. We're long past overdue for Operation Wetback version 2.0. It worked wonders in the 1950s, ridding America of millions of these criminals:

This is a major shift in location, not just for the hipsters; but for many others. We are in our early 60s and never again want a car centric transportation lifestyle. That means you, SunCity.

Walk ability is key.

Suburban company campuses are going the way of big shopping malls. High vacancy.

I'm surprised that Irving is still 64% white. The biggest problem with their influx is that they retain their culture and dislodge existing communities just as it is in problem areas across the country. A majority of them don't want to immerse themselves in American culture but bring their own and impose on the host, or simply push them out. Same, now familiar story.

Still a few nice enclaves in Irving/Las Colinas that are very respectable but they're getting squeezed.

The “country” is too far from the action...airports,top hospitals, sporting events, shopping, etc, etc. The “city” is too close to the junkies, muggers, welfare parasites, noise, dirt, etc, etc. The suburbs are the best compromise.I'm suburbs born and bred and feel very lucky to be that way.
