The witness told police that McDaniel said, “The story is the gun fell off the table and went off.” That witness then tried to provide aid to Peters until help arrived. I'd say he's already a narcissist or sociopath, and perhaps did this on purpose and made it look like an accident.

Will he ever be able to forgive himself? I'm guessing he already has, and any remorse he feels is for himself - facing the consequences of what he did. He should have been a cop, then there wouldn't be any consequences.
