I'm starting to believe that many on FR really want us to finish losing the battle so chaos can take over - always quick with something negative about their side of the aisle and never anything worth looking at as a potential solution.

Your rant would have more power, if you weren't ignoring the fact that besides not being a small-government guy, which is a large part of being conservative, Walker also want's to grant the 30+ million Undocumented Democrats (a.k.a. Illegal Aliens) in this country Amnesty. Amnesty is a Republic killer, it's not just "He said nice stuff about Mandela" garbage.

Quit comparing apples to rockets and then professing faux condemnation on Freepers.

Ohio tried that path - a no-exceptions bill was passed and later undone by referendum.

I know. If we can agree that unions for government employees and collective bargaining for union employees are bad things then it's true for all of them.

Well, I'm waiting until Walker actually runs for POTUS before issuing my fatwa.

You're YouTube links mean nada since Walker gave a rather convincing argument against amnesty to Breitbart.

Anywho, Walker can't do anything about amnesty anyway. I'm more worried about the Rubios and McCains before worrying about Walker's position.

Balony.

Walker's words are Walker's words, period.

Nobody put them in his mouth.

Apparently, in an unguarded moment, Gov. Walker spilled the beans as to how he really feels and since he has not retracted those words, all we're left with is that dependent on the day and the audience, Gov. Walker is in favor of Amnesty, which, giving these Illegal Aliens a "Pathway to Citizenship" is exactly.

So pretend all you want, but his support for the "Pathway to Citizenship" is public record. This is Amnesty.

If you can’t distinguish between big government statists, who also always seem to be for open borders/amnesty (e.g., all Bushes), and actual small-government conservatives, how are you one to comment on the cause at all?

Amazing - one person cherry picks my original statement because his feelings were hurt and others jump on from the cherry-picked bit. The meat of my originals statement was in response to another saying Walker wasn't really a small government guy (not something I disagree with). The article had nothing to do with that sort of politics and the statements by Walker, in the gist of the article, were valid, so I asked:

And that is relevant to the topic of the article in what way?

I get that many have found faults in all politicians, but I have trouble fathoming why the faults automatically trump any good/relevant opinions put out by these "flawed" politicians. Are you going to respond to the next Ted Cruz article with "He said nice stuff about Mandela"? Or the next one about Sarah Palin with "There wuz rumors that she was for amnesty"?The reason I said what I said is because there are those here who, having heard that a turd is a Tootsie Roll, will eat these "Tootsie Rolls" if a Walker tells them that it isn't a good idea because Walker has other areas where they absolutely disagree with him.

Hard to believe I have to go through this to make my point - just because someone has ideas that you find abhorrent, doesn't mean that they don't have something valuable to say on other topics. Do you now discount what he did against the unions? Is it now all BS because he believes in letting illegals crawl around like cockroaches (I hate the amnesty crap too)?

So, from my point of view - if YOU can't distinguish between the good and the bad that may come out of a mind, and are willing to discount all the good ideas because of a few bad ideas and consider a question such as mine as being "against the cause", who are you to comment about anyone else's comments? It reminds me of the "hate-the-Mormons-until-it-consumes-me" folks.

Walker’s playing the same game that Rubio is—and that the Bushes have always liked to play.

“Don’t look at my positions (e.g., amnesty, ever-larger government) that will end liberty and conservatism in this country, just focus on this one particular position that I think we can agree on!”

And that is how the GOP plays its part in killing the country. It is entirely relevant to this thread to point out that Walker is playing a shell game, trying to distract you from the deadly policies that he advocates and would enact.

I agree with much of what you just said. I still won't discount what Walker says if he makes sense. Listening to the common sense parts and voting for a package are different deals. Sorry if the distinction was lost as the "riposte" between a couple of us was engaged by others mid-stream.

Keep FR'ing

Don’t worry, I will!

I think it’s important to communicate such RINO positions whenever one is lauded here for some selectively conservative stance they take.

Otherwise, posters mistakenly fall for their game.

E.g., if you ever check out the ricochet.com “center-right” site (read: squishy, ill-informed RINOs), you’ll see them all lining up behind Walker for president because co-founder Rob Long has been touting him—often at the same time that he says he won’t back another GOP pol because of a pro-amnesty position. Somehow, none of the ricochet leadership has figured out that Walker is as bad as they come on the issue.

Walker seems to have something of a “Jeb Bush problem” with a Hispanic wife, but maybe that’s not fair to say since most of the GOPe have gone pro-amnesty without having Hispanic wives.

Not many politicians have stood firm on illegal invasion/amnesty, or offered truly acceptable solutions. I'm afraid that they have bought into the "third rail syndrome" and many with good ideas are afraid to espouse them else they be treated like Phil Robertson. Most of us who post and support FR would love to see them all pushed across the border and have it sealed so nothing could get across. I'm one of them, but I can't picture it ever happening. I would be happy to see the border controlled and to have anyone who has been apprehended for any crime be shoved back across as a start and then work out the intricacies in a logical fashion after that. I really can't conceive of a viable way to rid ourselves of all the illegals without also giving up our own personal freedoms to allow a government, that had such an inclination, to ferret them all out. More likely they would become the new citizens and we would all be locked up/deported.

So many issues, so few acceptable solutions, and zero acceptable solutions coming out of D.C. - at least we have a place to air it all out.
