It was my daughter who first noticed it.
You have a moral reason behind everything you do, Mom, she said flatly.
To this day, Im not sure if that was an accusation or a compliment. Considering she was in her early 20s at the time, it could have gone either way.
Until she made that statement, however, I never really thought of it like that. But she was right.

(I posted this once before)
I had this argument with my 9 year old daughter after watching the first one. I had told her that if she didnt pay any attention to politics it can happen here as it has recently in other places.
Her previous school had student drawings of Obama plastered on the office wall. I asked her if she had ever seen student pictures of Bush.
I went to Google Maps and zoomed into all the Mediterranean countries with a search of resorts. I had the photo feature turned on. Then I told her which countries were in wars and regime changes. We went from country to country panning the beautiful coastlines and the resorts were absolutely beautiful.
That was a year ago. She doesnt stand up for Obama anymore. If she does, Ill tell her what Obama, Ayers, Dorhn, Evans, Clinton and Kerry are doing to the world.
Mexican violence, this one just might be too graphic for a young child

“You have a moral reason behind everything you do, Mom, she said flatly.”
Sounds like the best lesson came through successfully.
Thanks for trying to keep her straight on the ways of the socialist world. Sometimes being a parent ain’t easy. Hope she grows to be an asset to us rather than a liability like a lot of the youngsters out there. Poor parenting is child abuse in my eyes.
LOL! Sometimes the light bulb comes on.
The daughter’s quote reminds me of something Dr. James Kennedy stated back when the phrase, “You can’t legislate morality!” was so popular. He said, correctly, that the statement was absurd and that “...morality is the only thing you can legislate.” Whether we think we have moral reasons for everything we say/do in actuality, they do flow out of a moral (or immoral) mind set and world view.
A treasure trove of good links. Thanks.
The truly idiotic “can’t legislate morality” cliche was never of course meant to say any such thing.
The actual point was, “You can’t legislate sexual morality.” Or, perhaps more accurately, “I don’t think you should legislate sexual morality.”
Now this is a validly debatable point, but I think the automatic unthinking exclusion of sexual issues from discussions of right/wrong or legislation is really stupid.
