WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) - Director James Cameron says he plans to make three sequels to his 2009 sci-fi blockbuster movie "Avatar" in New Zealand.
Cameron made the announcement Monday with producer Jon Landau and New Zealand Prime Minister John Key. The films will be made by Lightstorm Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox.
"Avatar" won three Academy Awards and is the highest-grossing film in history.

I wonder what plot lines he’ll copy for these movies.
Then that will make four of his indoctrination messages I will not see. I think the best portrayal of Cameron I ever saw was on South Park.
I’ve yet to make it all the way through the first Avatar.
When the Blue B*tch starts screaming, I grab the remote.
I get most of my non-political current events from South Park.
I never knew what a Honey Boo Boo was until this episode.
3 more movies i won’t waste time and money seeing.
Here’s an idea. Let him go ahead an film all three at the same time, spending all that money. Then, let anyone calling themselves conservative and God-fearing not spend a cent on his films.
Are we so soft-spined that we can’t resist freely funding the very people that seek to destroy us, whether in or out of the womb?
I was pulling for Quaritch and the USMC the entire time...
Got that right! The first one was a great movie, but Dances With Wolves mashed up with Ferngully.......?
Titanic was OK but not great and I can’t believe I’m the only one that thinks Avatar was nothing more than a bunch of tree hugging garbage?
Most of his other movies were pretty good but I think he’s the most overrated director/producer in Hollywood.
For anyone who hasn’t seen Titanic yet, this will save them a lot of time.

How’s those Hollywood Unions doing in NZ?
“...I cant believe Im the only one that thinks Avatar was nothing more than a bunch of tree hugging garbage?”
Rest easy in the certain knowledge that you are not the only one.
Smurfs meet Ferngullian.
I wonder if he will do as well as Lucas with his follow up trilogies?
Wait Wait, Silly Me, I mean this:
Dances with Smurfs
With all due respect and credit to South Park...
You’re surely not alone. I’ve never seen avatar nor will I ever. Though I enjoyed the deep water scenes from the Titanic, the plt was rather silly and the acting was horrid, imho.
Do you mean Xena copied LOTR, or the other way around?
Avatar was embarrassing, retarded and unwatchable. It would come on HBO or I would catch it in the middle and I would try to watch it.... I could only take it for five minutes
