That picture reminded me how insignificant We the People are in the eyes of the authorities and their enforcement agencies. Deprived of their Constitutional right to keep and bear arms, unarmed and defenseless subjects, the People were treated as if they posed a deadly threat to the sheriff and his deputies armed with assault weapons, many of whom in body armor and Kevlar military-style helmets, that apparently cared much more about their own safety than the safety of people that they were supposed to serve and protect.

Well written piece. I know the liberal elite get rather testy when a member of the “great unwashed” speaks the truth.
I think ‘serve and protect’ is misunderstood rather than a fallacy. The common understanding is that the police are there to server and protect the general population. However, thats not true. The police serve and protect themselves primarily and the government secondarily. Everyone else is on their own....the courts certainly agree on this.

The Law & Order types and boot lickers right here at FR will tell you to just comply. Its for your own good after all, you MUST obey the state. Its not just liberals that are freedom haters and no need to wander over to DU...you can get your daily dose of statism right here at FR.
They've been subdued somewhat as of late. I suspect they have not changed their views in the slightest, but have lost so many logical arguments they don't want to expose their worship of the government to any more rational deconstruction.
OH, and to the aforemention jackboot lickers, NO, I don't give a crap if your beloved JBTS go home to their families at night. And I don't care if they were just follwoing orders. They weren't drafted they don't have to follow orders or get shot.
Not really the protect and serve themselves first of all and the government next. Any protecting of the general populace comes after this.
