The speed limit was never exceeded during this test, was it? That’s against the law, you know ... /s
Hhmmm.... I expected more info on why turbos beat bigger motors. General rule of thumb going back to Henry Ford was, “There is no REplacement for DISplacement.”
Supercharges and Turbos just being a means of adding “virtual” displacement to the engines cycle.
And yeah, a 4.0l with a 2.0l turbo rig will probably out perform a 5.4l...
At least, from my limited understanding of what they are doing. I’m not up to speed on a lot of the power-tuning they’ve been doing.
Agreed, everything about him is depressing but there’s nothing depressing about fast cars.
90 mph is okay but I liked your 200 mph Corvette post yesterday, he was pickin’ em up and puttin’ em down. :-)
Buyers MUST look at more than a lap time, turbos are expensive to replace, a cops office is a cruiser. Unless it’s a take home that ride is moving 24/7 with a different driver on each shift. Driver on days, drives like a human. Driver on swings is more cruising. Drivers on graves is lead foot Louie the LEO.....ergonomics , accessories like laptop racks, shotgun and rifle racks, radios and electronics associated with wiring harness , alternator and batteries.
How will it corner and brake , cooling etc .... The seating is or isn’t designed for wear and tear from duty gear..... Suspension for city, rural roads....potholes, curbs.
Turbo is great for acceleration yet displacement is easier and cheaper to maintain per my experience for such vehicles.
Accessories package for the vehicles included...? pit and bull bars ? Ballistic and bio hazard (spit) cage ? Plastic back seat with handcuff and hog tie retention, dark tint for prisoner cage (innocent till proven guilty ride)..... Lots more than just a cool turbo IMO.
Got to get long term bang for the taxpayers buck..... Good read, stay safe !!
With a turbo, you can choose not to engage it simply by 'babying' your gas pedal. The flexibility is fantastic. The boost turbos provide is incredible when you need it.
I didn’t see any specs or rankings for the Plymouth, Fury III?
There is a walk around showing what the car is, and a session on lapping day chasing Corvettes and a Porsche. 131 MPH in 4th with 1000 RPM to go when I ran out of straightaway.
I can flog the car without mercy for 20 minute sessions. Gets 32 MPG at highway speed.
I did all the fabrication and tuning myself.
I’m thinking about the Mad Max, supercharged ride.
Think "because we have a hovercraft." [with or without eels]
