You likely hear it every day. And if it bugs you, you’re not alone. The most annoying word in American conversation has been revealed: “whatever.”
And get this: it’s the fifth year in a row the nine-letter casual word has taken top ticked-off honors.
According to a Marist poll, 38 percent of Americans can’t stand the word. Taking second-place honors is “like” with 22 percent, then “you know” with 18 percent followed by “just sayin” with 14 percent and “obviously” with 6 percent.
The 38 percent number is up six points from last year.

It’s quite annoying when people use “myself” improperly. Most of the time they should be using “me” or “I” instead.
Like my vote is like for the word “like.”
My list of annoying words would include:
1) homophobic
2) sustainablity
3) hoodie
4) taper
5) at the end of the day....
6) evolving
7) African American
8) organic
Oh I forgot....I hate the expression....”people of color”.....if we’re going to use that ....just call them colored.
A what-not is a shelf to put knick knacks on.
My least favorite is a compilation of words that people apocopate.
You’re right—my bad is so puerile.
