There are more than a million veterans in Florida alone, many of whom are card carrying VA members. But the very identification card issued to them by the U.S. government could turn them into a target for fraud and identity theft.

Hmmmmm. So I wonder what they get off of the regular active duty and retired military I.D.s.
Where does a vet get these cards? I have never seen one.

The VA issues you this card when you apply for and are granted VA benefits, such as healthcare. Vietnam era vets are eligible for VA healthcare.
I am enrolled with the VA and have never seen one.
The old ones had your SSN printed in 18 point bold face. Now it’s in the bar code. How else are they going to ID you? They swipe my card, ask for my last name and last four and that’s it.
I only carry it with me when I go to the VA, otherwise it’s in a secure place with my SS card.
Seems to me the media as presented on that YouTube doth protest too much.
I guess if you have an unscrupulous type with a portable scanner and you didn’t have one of those protective wallets.....
The feds seem determined to put veterans SS numbers out there, we had them on our dog tags and all of our orders and paper work, the VA throws them around like crazy, at full volume in the waiting rooms, and my old, blue VA card that I still use, has it right on the front.
