Zilmax created the environment for this to happen in a small number of cattle being fed a “hot” diet. Its a good bet Merck never saw this phenomenon on the test animals before they released the drug for public use.

But, they did see that it lowered the quality of the meat...yet, here were are. We have noticed that beef quality has gone down a lot over the last year; no marbling at all..even in a Ribeye...unless you buy "Prime" (which also has less than before). I thought that grocery stores might be buying lower grade beef to avoid customer sticker shock...yet, it made no sense to me that ALL grocery stores would be doing that.

But, no...apparently, the beef industry has gone the way of the pork industry before it; destroy the quality across the board leaving consumers without options. Looks like Cargill held out for awhile, and then caved. Not their fault..they probably had to do so in order to find cattle to buy; I appreciate the fact that they tried.

HOWEVER, those who grade the meat were going along with this, apparently. Beef grades have specific requirements as to marbling, etc. Either those were changed, or they have been defrauding consumers for the last two years.

And let’s not even get started on corn based ethanol...

Hey! Leave my bourbon out of this!

I dunno, the fact is, it is not a new phenomenon and has happened before Zilmax was on the market so you can’t say the drug created the environment.

It has never affected the cattle’s hooves before.

I am surrounded on three sides by range cattle, walking on Sierra Fescue in many places, and I have yet to see a single hoof fall off.

Maybe I should go looking for them....

Still haven’t read any of the scientific literature linked, have you? You’d rather flog your unscientific beliefs based on personal anecdote. It’s not the fescue, it’s the fungus. Uninfected fescue is not dangerous.

Nothing I can do for willful ignorance.

Such cruelty. PLUS, we’re eating poisoned meat. How long until human feet start falling off?

It might cause the sky to fall too. Don’t add things like this, it isn’t needed.........................
