Britain sends £2million in aid to Argentina and what do we get... a FIVE-PAGE rant

ARGENTINA has blasted the UK once again over their "occupation" of the Falklands Islands despite receiving £2 million in aid from Britain

Figures revealed that Argentina have been received the aid from Britain since 2012 which has been blasted by Tory MPs as "outrageous".

The news comes as Argentine foreign minister Hector Timerman issued a five-page rant blasting yesterday the UK for "military occupation of Argentine territory".

Mr Timerman said: "As a corollary to a year in which the British Government issued threats to several independent countries, to such an extent that the British Parliament itself had to reject its attempts to launch military actions in the Middle East, the British Government devoted a paragraph of its Christmas address to the military defence of the Malvinas Islands, forgetting – if the British Government was ever able to appreciate it – the peace message that Christmas should inspire.

"Perhaps this was the expression of a failed attempt to confuse the world as to the colonial and military occupation of Argentine territory, and the result of the lack of legal and historical arguments."

The 60-year-old also said after years of defence cuts the UK "roars but does not inspire fear any more".

The Daily Mail said the £2 million aid to Argentina is understood to be continuing.

Conservative MP Ian Liddell-Grainger, who is part of Parliament's group on the Falklands, blasted the aid as "absolutely ridiculous". He told the Mail: "Why on Earth are we sending aid to Argentina? It is absolutely ridiculous. They are behaving outrageously towards the Falklands and they hardly need the money.

"People will be rightly shocked that we are giving money to Argentina at a time when they are trying to stop our shipping from going to the Falklands and threatening to prosecute companies that explore for oil there."

Tory Peter Bone told the paper: "People will be appalled that we are sending aid to Argentina – a country that is making aggressive claims on the Falkland Islands. There can be no justification for it and it must stop."

I find the Argentine position on these islands to be the strangest thing. Aside from the proximity of the islands to Argentina there is nothing that ties the Falklands to that country. No ethnic or linguistic ties and certainly no historical ties. The longest that the Argentines have ever possessed the islands was when they occupied them during the war. This would be akin to us saying that Cuba was American territory because it is geographically close to us and we were there during a minor war at one time. Weird.

Weird their position might seem, but it has nevertheless proven quite effective, seeing as how it’s worked for them just as well as the Palestinians’ position with regards to Israel.

Just like Israel is now considered to be a villainous ‘Devil Country’ in the mould of Apartheid South Africa, so too has Argentina managed to parlay long-simmering hatreds against British Colonialism into most countries in the world now supporting the Argentine position over the British one, and the Argentines KNOW this. They know it’s only a matter of time before they get what they want.

certainly no historical ties.

Not quite accurate.

Argentina, or a government based in Buenos Aires anyway, claimed ownership and exercised intermittent and at best extremely loose control over the Malvinas from 1820 to 1832.

Exactly why this should outweigh the solid and continuous British control since 1840 remains a mystery.

It's kind of like the similar situation for Texas. Mexico controlled it (or parts) in a very loose fashion from 1821 to 1836, 15 years. Which in some eyes gives it a better claim than the USA, which has controlled it solidly since 1845, minus 4 years during the WBTS, or 165 years.

Very odd reasoning, based of course entirely on anti-white POVs.

And to think, Argentina used to be a RICH nation. Then Socialists took over. Now it is a beggar nation.

Thanks, I wasn’t aware of that part of the history.

Why doesn’t the UK demand that Argentina return to Paraguay all the territory Argentina seized in the Paraguayan War?

The Falklands have a large oil deposit under them. Therefore, they belong to Argentina.

I was taught as a kid that Argentina was a model for other Central and South American nations to follow.Since then Communism has reduced her to just another banana republic.
