Thanks for the ping. Too many “non-profit” entities where most are abusing that status including the political entities on both sides.

Only those organizations clearly serving the public, with mostly volunteer and non-paid help such as churches should have such status. Non-profit should not be a free ticket to massive pay for a CEO, or a means to sway public opinion. It should mean a tangible benefit to all of society. Their tax free status should not cost the rest of us, and too many them do.

“Once again, GOVERNMENT has its “nose” intruding into private business.”

Yeah they could pay their employees less, and use their own profits to build their billion dollar stadiums too, like most business used to do.

Except in today’s crony corporate capitalist world big business has created a scheme where they buy off politicians and politicians then force taxpayers to take the risk for them, while they reap the reward. They call it of Dept of Economic Development and Opportunity or in 2009 they called it Wall St..

Capitalism was once about private risk and private reward.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC is a “Non Profit”. Don’t know about the other Shields but I suspect they are.

How exactly does their tax free status cost you?

“How exactly does their tax free status cost you?”

If you belong to a hunting camp, the members share equally in the expenses. If one member can’t pay his share, everyone else makes up the difference. The same works for taxes.

If any organization should be paying their share it should be the NFL. We’ve already built their stadiums and run them, and police them, and only the politicians spending our money get the free seats.

A buddy of mine just went to a game free in a plush box seat courtesy of an in-law that works on governors’s staff. I told him not to even tell me about it because it POs me. We pay taxes so the political elites can divvy out favors with our money.

I look at it from a different perspective. I think the less money the government takes, the better. Government already spends far too much money on worthless garbage......Why encourage it by calling for anyone to “pay their share”? Honestly, this sounds like a President Obama campaign ad.

We can’t run a military and a nation on thin air. Yeah I agree there is far too much corruption, waste and fraud. Those caught with their hands undeservedly in the public til should go to prison making sand out of boulders for a long time and especially including the pols.

We fought the last two wars on a credit card and the next generation will get the bill. That’s not fiscal conservatism. I believe in pay as we go and that means everyone needs to pay their share, most of all those overpaid hacks in the frivolous entertainment industry like the NFL.
