Great video, thanks for posting OP.

very cool. i think they do that to cut shrubbery as well. I heard the freight train do it and saw the after effects but never saw the actual even.

Man, he is really moving! I would have thought he would take it slower, but he’s highballing it!

Two engines pushing that plow through the drifts. Need great speed and power to get to the other side of the drift.
To: Gamecock
that was a year ago..whada ya think this year would look like?
To: Gamecock
I was surprised at the speed. I guess it needs the momentum to really bust the snow. I think I also heard the dopler effect.

That thing throws snow almost as good as my Ariens!

Lol Norm, I was waiting for someone to say something along those lines.
My wife’s uncle works for CN, I should actually find out what he does exactly.

If that plow collided with a white tractor trailer at a grade crossing, would the crew notice?
To: Parley Baer
The old "bucker" and "wedge" plows depended on momentum to get through deep drifts without getting stuck themselves, but the rotaries could sort of creep along while chewing/launching the snow. I haven't seen a plow at work for about 20 years, but they were always worth watching as long as you stood back. I recall seeing some film footage that was taken by a rail fan who was WAY too close to a wedge plow special, and as that plow comes zooming towards the cameraman, you just know what is going to happen...

There are some avalanche movies/videos where the camera locations across the valley were negatively impacted.
