I guess we'd have to know more about what "fight back" means. If someone was in physical contact with him/her, then him/her has a right to use his fists in self-defense.

If, on the other hand, someone called him/her a name or made some un-PC remark because him/her was waltzing into the girl's loo, then that's a completely different matter.
