I wonder if this is their own technology or if they are working off the tracking technology developed elsewhere, such as eye trackers used in refractive surgery.
I always thought it was iron sights only? (I have no military experience) In the BSA in the 60s, we had to shoot NRA competition with iron sight; no scopes, although I had an easily removable 4x Bushnell on my old Mossberg 144LS .22LR at the time.
This system gives the user environmental feedback like temperature, compass direction, wind speed, and other sensor data.
However, it appears that the active part of this system is no more than an interlock that prevents the round from firing until the gun is aimed correctly. I, for one, would not want that feature.
The gun is cheap! It’s the ammo cost that will kill you! Just like printers! lol
To get the maximum accuracy, you would have to buy match grade ammo, or load your own under very careful conditions. Appleseed marksmanship will prevail with any ammo under all conditions thrown in.
This might even things up a bit with Ubama’s “civilian army that is as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded” as the US military.
I am thinking the opposite — that Obama’s “civilian army” will be the only ones allowed to buy or possess these things. Oh plus your local jackbooted SWAT team of course.
I meant if you got one now.
Yep. In urban warfare superior technology is far from a guarantee of victory. And when the underdogs are free men who love their families & liberty more than their lives, technology comes in a distant second.
We may come to find out how many of those men we have in this country.
Challenge accepted. I’ve had some bad days on the range where I just can’t seem to hit anything I aim at. On one of those days, ha, I could make your 10K rifle miss. ;-)
“Smart bullets”? I can’t even imagine how much they cost per round. My Barrett’s .50cal were ~$4.75/round, and “smart bullets” probably dwarf that. WTH is a “smart bullet” anyway? It’s a guided missile; yikes!

The batteries used in red dot sights are usually good for 1,000 + hours. I don’t know how the cold affects them. Same as other batteries I would guess. In any case, sooner or later....
But competency with iron sights should always be a prerequisite to scope work. Sights and scopes mean squat if you aren’t good with the fundamentals. I’ve seen active duty military at Appleseed courses. The human factor is always the dominant one.
Actually, I sold it a few weeks ago, but I’ve had days like that, too, until I had the Leupold-BORS System fitted... at $2,900 it was a bargain.

A given
But you can never get the genie back into the bottle. These things have a way of making into the other side's hands.
Stinger missiles in the 80's? Once they're out there, it's pretty hard to guarantee they stay where you want them.
Another thought regarding Zero's private "army". Like the Brownshirts they will be poorly educated cowardly thugs, bullies and sadists. They will be better equipped, but see what happens when the hunted start shooting back from the rooftops, etc.
If someone would buy it for me....
(That applies to a LOT of things! hahahaha)
You mean, it depends on the target.
In the hands of an inexperienced shooter, or some dumb ass, that's not a guarantee. Hand steadiness? No scope will give you that. Nor proper trigger pull. Close quarters firefight conditions?
This will be a pretty mean weapon, but it's not the magic bullet (pun intended)
As one who did fairly well on the USMC Known Distance (200, 300 & 500 yds) ranges using iron sights, first on the M-14 and later the M-16, I say, "More power to them".
You fight like you train.
Exactlty!!
