Martha Smalanskas, 48, and Richard Smalanskas, 49, from Harvard, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty to violating the Fair Labor Standards Act at a federal court hearing in Boston on Wednesday
They originally met their victim in Bolivia when she was 16 and hired for as a nanny for their three children Three years later they brought her to the U.S. illegally, claiming her to be a relative
For 13 years and four months she worked as their housekeeper and nanny, with the prosecution saying she made $2500 total

The article says 13 years not 3.
Because they have money would be my guess.
I missed that. It does change the calculation in favor of the housekeeper got screwed. However, given the rent in Boston, it is still not as bad as it sounds.
Oh please. I’d be willing to bet money on it.
Huh? Read it again:
"For 13 years and four months she worked as their housekeeper and nanny, with the prosecution saying she made $2500 total"
That's $16 dollars a week for 13 years. I'm sorry, but that's equivalent to slavery in anyone's book.
Harvard, MA is out in the sticks (nowhere near Cambridge), a fairly leafy area, no doubt she lived in a basement apartment / room.
Damn! In 1965 my first real job, at age 14, paid $5 a week. And that’s still a buck more than this girl was paid.
That being said, if they were Indian diplomats they would have been stripped, had a homosexual do a cavity search then been expelled.
Actually it would appear that he is a pro-Life Conservative according to a FB page.
Dang! There’s a whoda thunk it.
The odds are about 40% democrat 20% independent 10% republican 30% refusing to vote
No way. Unenrolled voters outnumber Democrats and Republicans combined in Massachusetts.
The part which makes me wonder is this went on for 13 years, it’s not as if it just happened and then she escaped.
sounds like a civil suit waiting to happen.......
But of course it will; no such thing (according to dear leader)
As a result, the couple will be forced to pay the woman - who was not identified but is believed to be about 35-years-old - $150,000 in restitution and serve a year of probation, under an agreement they reached with prosecutors,...
Because of the donations they made to ???, hmmmm? What happened to the other $150k (...authorities determining the family owed her roughly $301,000 under prevailing minimum wage...)???
And Devyani Khobragade gets indicted for the same thing.
Gotta love the UK Mail Online.. right below that story is:
Woman rushed to hospital after THREE-HOUR orgasm
You left out the deportation notice. If the demodummies can convert her to their ranks, she'll become a naturalized American citizen (eminent domain)
“Damn! In 1965 my first real job, at age 14, paid $5 a week. And thats still a buck more than this girl was paid.”
Ok, but did you get room, board, clothing provided also ?
“Harvard, MA is out in the sticks (nowhere near Cambridge), a fairly leafy area, no doubt she lived in a basement apartment / room.”
I missed that detail. I read Harvard and assumed it was the University and not the town so I thought “Cambridge”.
“Actually it would appear that he is a pro-Life Conservative according to a FB page.”
I believe it is irrelevant regardless of political affiliation. Which is why I decided to defend the needless democrat smears.
