Everyone knows that the ancient idea of Earth in the center of the universe is a ridiculous holdover from a superstitious age, right? Modern science has proven that we are nothing special! We inhabit, in Carl Sagan's words, "....an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people." Well....prepare to be shocked!
"The Principle", destined to become one of the most controversial films of our time, brings before the public eye astonishing results from recent large-scale surveys of our universe- surveys which disclose unexpected evidence of a preferred direction in the cosmos, aligned with our supposedly insignificant Earth.
Set for theatrical release in Spring 2014, "The Principle" includes narration by Kate Mulgrew ("Star Trek Voyager", "Orange Is The New Black", and "Ryan's Hope"), stunning animations by BUF Compagnie Paris ("Life of Pi", "Thor"), and commentary from prominent scientists including George Ellis, Michio Kaku, Julian Barbour, Lawrence Krauss, and Max Tegmark.
Tracing the development of cosmology from its inception (Stonehenge, the Great Pyramid at Giza), through the great revolution of Copernicus, to the astonishing new discoveries of Earth-oriented alignments in the largest structures of our visible universe, "The Principle" leads us face-to-face with the question, and the challenge- what does this mean for the future of mankind?

That looks to be an interesting flick.
I love God and mathematics and science, so this is always going to be interesting. Though every place in the universe is apparently at the center of its expansion.
When God spoke “Let us make Man in Our image, after our likeness”, He may have indicated that there is intelligent life elsewhere in the cosmos, and that the creation of Man on Earth was a “universal” endeavor linking us to it.
Of course that’s merely speculation, but seems as logical as any other explanation with which I’m familiar.
A God filled Sunday, all.
Lawrence Krauss called it ‘nonsense’.
So they have Michio Kiko but no Neil DeGrasse-Tyson Foods, two people that are almost as bad as Gloria Alred when there’s a camera around. You don’t want to get between them.
Typical Kiko quote, “If our Earth turns out to be special, then I would say, God made a mistake.”
The universe is changing and they don’t know why it is changing, but they do know God had nothing to do with it.
“The universe is changing and they dont know why it is changing, but they do know God had nothing to do with it.”
I realize to some it’s a distinction without a difference, but these scientists don’t make the claim that “they do know God had nothing to do with it”, but that there is no evidence for a creator, nor do they think there is a testable way to prove it one way or the other.
I think the Bible states that there is enough natural revelation of the existence of God that mankind is without excuse. While this sounds interesting, it also sounds like one more of those “interesting” shows that leaves you thinking about the verse that says, “...ever learning but never coming to the knowledge of the truth.” Want to know God? Then do what he asks: “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Heb. 11:6
“The universe is changing and they dont know why it is changing, but they do know God had nothing to do with it.”
That statement in the trailer was enough to turn me off from the movie completely, but other statements were just commonplace observations dressed up in sensationalism.
For example, the now-dog-eared theory of entropy says all energy will eventually dissipate and the universe will “die.” How long will that take? Billions of years. Kind of so what, for most of us. If it is true, which it may not be. Big Whoop.
Those who cannot see God are self-blinded.
Yeah, but the problem with even that theory-—entropy-—is that it’s based on the here and now and assumes nothing can or will change over time, esp. over billions of years.
Given the size of the universe and the number of celestial bodies, you can 'find' any alignment you damn well please. (So much for 'astonishing'.)
Didn’t Sagan end up saying that God doesn’t exist and used his series as the proof?

The godlike Carl Sagan? -— Peace be upon him.
“god like” — Perhaps so, as I’ve heard folks speak more reverently and in awe of him than of our Savior and His Father.
