If they think it’s hot now, just wait until the Chechnyans arrive.

Every Olympics, the news stories are so dire of disaster. However, they all end up an incredible experience and something for the entire family to enjoy. Ignore the naysayers. So sick of negative people.

Is that resort relatively new? I remember Mt. Charleston but do not recall hearing about the resort.

More snow on Mt. Charleston right now than some of our Washington State and Oregon resorts.

The Olympic Committee picked a warm place to hold the Winter Olympics on purpose so they can help push the global warming meme.Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

It's not new but was renamed in 1995. See
Wikipedia.

>>>The Caucasus are higher mountains than the Urals, no? I guess the other choice would be those mountains that range from Western Mongolia to the Bering Sea - maybe Vladivostok would be the host city in that case - or possibly one further west (Novosibirsk, perhaps).<<<
Vladivostok is extremely rainy and the whole city is a mix of docks and navy bases. And when there is no raining or snowing there is a thick fog. You won’t like it.
As for a range between Western Mongolia and Bering Sea you won’t like to visit too.
-50c is not rare for Novosibirsk in February. To bring things into perspective it is about 40 minutes lifespan as soon as you are out of a building or vehicle. Diesel looks exactly like a peanut butter in that environment.
