Young people who use high potency ‘skunk’ cannabis daily ‘have psychotic episodes earlier’

Mental illnesses are triggered six years earlier in patients who have smoked high-strength cannabis every day, a study has claimed.

Mental health patients who smoked skunk daily—which has a high amount of the drug’s active ingredient, THC—had their first psychotic episode at an average age of 25, compared to 31 for non-users.

Yet the damage was not limited to heavy smokers or those using powerful cannabis, according to the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London.

Mental health patients with a general history of using cannabis still had their first psychotic episodes at 28—three years earlier than those who never tried the drug. …

No excuse for what the WOD has done to erode the constitution.

I have an ill family member and as a result got involved with NAMI in 2006. I am now the State director for a 12-week course called Family-to-Family which has the goal of helping families understand mental illness better and give them communication and problem solving skills. An educated family isle. From teaching this course at least 15 times now, and interacting with hundreds of family members, I am convinced that pot is NOT harmless but does in fact facilitate psychosis in young people.

At every fatal car crash involving marijuana in Colorado and Washington, a mile 420 marker should be posted. Funny how if a state violates Federal laws regarding abortion or gay marriage, they are censured by the Courts almost immediately. Somehow it is different if they contradict Federal drug laws.

Liberals typically suffer psychotic episodes anyway.

I’ve seen it with young teenager family members who use pot regularly. Their mental state is damaged.

Skunk strains typically have 10–20% THC and little to no cannabidiol (CBD).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabidiol

Importantly, the skunk strains are also associated strongly with the treatment of retinitis pigmentosa, an inherited, degenerative eye disease that causes severe vision impairment and often blindness.[

A reporter for the London Times, who suffered from advanced RP, attending a cannabis fest on the continent, was shocked to discover a return of visual acuity and night vision, after smoking skunk.

She then discovered that some 4th world fishermen, who fished at night, used skunk to improve their night vision.

Her write up in the Times led to significant research in the use of skunk marijuana against RP. Faced with almost assured blindness, people because quite desperate.

...and for years they were saying it was acid that would lead to psychotic episodes.

Who would have guessed pot would lead to refer madness?

It's been legal in WA and CO for over a year. So where is the carnage?

BTW, states with medical marijuana had safer highways according to this study=> Study shows medical marijuana laws reduce traffic deaths

I know a gentleman, highly educated whose daughter suffered daily convulsions, after trying all the pharma stuff, all the modern meds did was make her a zombie and did not stop the episodes. An oregon mm doctor gave her a script for pot. It cured her. God can do anything and man’s ways are not His.peace in christ
