Here comes polar vortex TWO
IceAgeNow.info ^ | 13JAN2014 | Robert Felix

Posted on 01/13/2014 8:43:11 PM PST by Jack Hydrazine

“This is way overdone,” says meteorologist Joe Bastardi. “The one coming around Jan 25-31 will be much stronger.”

Another Arctic blast to hit US next week, shouts the Daily Mail. A new cold-front is expected to hit the East Coast on Thursday.

The upcoming front of icy temperatures is expected to bring arctic air to southern Canada and then move into the northern plains of the U.S. before moving to the Midwest and East Coast – each of which is still recovering from last week’s frigid temperatures.

Forecasters expect the first stage of the new arctic blast to hit the northern plains by Monday, the lower Mississippi Valley and Midwest Tuesday and Wednesday then the East from Thursday.

Weather experts expect temperatures to stay above zero in most locations in the Ohio Valley, central Appalachians, the northern Plains and the Upper Midwest.

North Central states and states in the interior Northeast, however, are expected to see temperatures at or below zero.

Additionally, anyone near the Great Lakes should also expect lake-effect snow.

Just curious, is “polar vortex”, what we used to call a “cold front” or Arctic cold front”?

Global warming is the biggest lie ever told. 200 years of factories emitting CO2 and there’s been no corresponding warming no great sea level rise predicted by their AGW science for those CO2 emissions. so their global warming science and scientists are fake. no surprise to me as government is a corrupt cancer and almost all these global warming scientists are funded by government. global warming is a hoax , There’s more ice than ever measured in Antarctica(google it). sea level rose by more than 360 feet after the last Ice Age ended but that was 20,000 years ago.

this is how they control us and grow government ; create fake crises

they are phasing out all lightbulbs pushing us to buy the mercury laden curly bulbs. more government insanity . and the news media is in on it as they hide that the gov banned lightbulbs

government funded 30 years of fake global warming research: more proof government is the problem

No matter - the end of next week is statistically the coldest few days of the year in the east - after that the average daily temperature starts going up a degree every couple of days - plus the sun’s a month higher in the sky than at its lowest point, so the warmth picked up roads and roofs is growing - we’ll get through a few days of this next “vortex” with no real issues.....

the media has so much power

I ‘ve talked to many people from Canada , Minnesota and other cold places. And they all believe in the fake global warming hoax. I tell these morons: “If this cooling trend continues , Canada won't be there soon”. And this cooling will continue if you look at the Sun's slowing solar cycles . they are so brainwashed .This year it was 60 below zero in Minnesota and record cold here in the South too. In Atlanta it was the coldest it's ever been. Antarctica has more ice than ever

It's easy to con people about the weather when they spend most of their time indoors.

Turn the heat off from October through April, and I'll bet most of those people you describe will be burning Al Gore in effigy just to stay warm.

Or coup nord.

Yup, went with how it's pronounced in Cajun French.
Probably based on the proper French of " coup de grâce" with "de grâce" replaced with "nord" (north).

But it is pronounced "Kou Nor" down here.

Polar Vortex = Northern Jet Stream

Sort of.

There actually is a difference this year in the weather patterns. I explained it to my neighbor about 2 weeks ago.

I live in the Seattle area, kinda. Everyone has, I am sure, heard about the rain.

Yeah. It does rain. It rains alot sometimes.
During the winter, mostly.

9 out of 10 years the predominant thing that controls weather here is a massive low pressure system over the gulf of Alaska. That coincides with a southerly jet stream.
The effect here is called the “pineapple express”, massive incoming flows of sub-tropical warm and very moist air coming in, thus the rain.

But sometimes, nature fakes us out. Like this year.

This year, the effect is reversed, and there is a monstrous, totally dominant high pressure system over the east pacific/gulf of Alaska region.

What that means for us in the PNW is a winter that is cooler than normal, but also much, much drier. It’s been so dry here this year that some of the ski areas STILL have not opened. The air coming our way is coming down from BC instead of coming in off the warmer and wetter Pacific tropical region.

That high pressure system, and the jet stream that goes along with it, are what is causing the polar vortexes. Even a small low pressure region over the north central US or the New England region gets magnified way beyond how much effect that it would normally have.

The result there being that VERY COLD AIR, literally air that might have been directly over the north pole 24 hours ago gets funneled and fast-tracked right down towards the eastern half of the US.

It’s not unheard of, but it is true that this is not the normal pattern, where the jet stream comes into the US in the So Cal area during the winter.

The Polar Vortex is a persistent Arctic or Antarctic low pressure area. Cold Arctic high pressure areas pinwheel around the Polar Vortex's counter cloackwise circuation. It's the mechanism that brings cold air south. In the northern hemisphere PVs are usually centered in Siberia and the Baffin Islands in Canada. Some years like this year the PV is located just a little further south.

Most reporters don't have a clue what it is.

Hope that explains it.

"Kou Nor" is how you pronounce coup nord in standard French. It apparently means "north shot," an appropriate name for such a phenomenon.

The climate change cultists are trying hard to “prove” their latest BS that the abnormally cold weather in the northern hemisphere is the result of hotter temperatures in the southern hemisphere. Big play has been given in the media about very hot conditions in Australia. The high temperatures cited happen to be in the deserts of central Australia during their normal summer. It would be like citing high summer temperatures in Death Valley as proof of global warming. According to my brother-in-law living in New South Wales, Australia temperatures are more moderate than last year when New Years eve in Sydney temperatures were over 100F. He reports day time temperatures in the mid eighties, certainly not abnormally hot. The media has also cited the cute story about how zoo animals in Argentina were being fed Popsicles to keep them cool. Big whoop it is summer in the southern hemisphere and such temperatures are not uncommon.
