:) That’s what I’m looking forward to. Hope he/she likes Moose Tracks ice cream...
That is awesome! Greta looks a lot like my Starz (Starz Limelight was her racing name).
Not sure we will ever have another breed.
Hah! Thank you, that was very funny. Come to think of it, so is your Uncle Joe!
Oh. Yikes. Shelties.
Well, think of a Border Collie, only with attitude. Give them their own pet, or as the other poster alluded, a buddy.
I’ve never had one myself, except for a rescue female for about 6 months. Also a friend of mine had one for many years.
Very smart, desirous of attention, hard to break of bad habits yet eager to please. Both the females I knew were the ‘queen bee’ meaning dominant. Not bad dogs at all. Those traits can be good if that is what you wish. And they are sweet and beautiful. Just don’t let on that she’s the smartest in the room, LOL.
I’ve mellowed from a collie person to a lab person. I simply haven’t the energy any more.
We have a 13-year-old Blue Heeler. I didn’t think I would like this breed but she’s a doll.
Best dogs for us have been Border Collies and this Blue Heeler. I guess when we lose her we might think about another Border Collie, or maybe a Sheltie, or maybe a standard Collie. Something that’s ready to ride in the truck, round up cows, play with the kids ...
You can always adopt a senior of whatever breed. I will stick with big GSDs, and whatever doggy loves me.
LOLOLOL!
Yeah my last one was considerably smarter than me :-) Great dogs.
Ridgebacks are the best of the best. I just wish mine wasn’t smarter than me.
Who DOESN’T love Moose Tracks ice cream?!!! Heaven in a bowl! All our doggies enjoyed a scoop of ice cream and our vet said, “Well, they are getting some calcium and it isn’t as bad as Doritos”. LOL!
Thank you for adopting a senior dog! I hope you two have many good years together.
Our first rescue was a 4-year old golden/Brittany mix. She had a great personality and was such a joyful spirit. We still laugh when we remember her antics (and weep a little, too)

An older yellow lab fit the bill too.
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences and for all the information. I meant to ask if you had a male or female. We are leaning towards a female. Still doing some more research. We want to make sure we make the right decision for the dog’s sake. Thanks again!
Thanks very much for the information. My sister had a border collie, so we know how smart they are. Amazing dogs! I know that the Shelties are similar in some ways, so we will have to make sure that we can keep him/her busy and happy. We want one badly, but need to be sure we can take care we have the time to care care of one properly. We have some decisions to make... Thanks again!
Yikes typing on a Kindle not so good!
“I meant to ask if you had a male or female.”
In my younger days when all young people are stupid I did not recognize the differences between male and female dogs.
The females really do make better pets. There are ‘feminine’ qualities about them that I was unaware of when younger. The females are more nurturing, etc. However, that will not stop them from trying to ‘supervise’ and control everything that happens in the house! In that sense they are typical females! ( I can say that because my wife does not read FR! ) ;-)
“Yeah my last one was considerably smarter than me :-) Great dogs”
Geez! I thought that I was the only one of the planet who had a dog smarter than me! ;-)
