The guy is a class act off the field, too. I’m glad for his success (just not against the Rockies, please).
7 years for a pitcher?
he won’t dominate for more than a couple or 3 years none of them do.. then it’s every 5 days if he stays healthy which almost none of them do.. then figure out how much you overpaid.. excellent pitcher but crazy paying a pitcher that much over that period of time
I think I would agree to that too, but that is insane.
I would not say anything, except that these clubs (I do not know whether Dodger Stadium or whatever it is called is privately owned) are supported by our tax dollars in the building of stadiums and the scholarships our colleges award. If they have this sort of money they can pay for their own stadium. You cannot say that these salaries are what the market will support when the market is essentially subsidised.
Furthermore, how can people complain about income inequity (I don’t complain about what someone makes as it does not affect me unless they are supported by my taxes) and support entertanment like this? The top ten athletes or the top ten entertainers (that is to say, not combined) make more than the top 100 CEO’s.
Dodger Stadium is privately owned, by the Dodgers, and was built with private funds.

Bit of a gamble on the length of the contract, but I’m glad he won’t be leaving The Dodgers.

He’s got an opt out after five, if he goes free agency after that, that’s where the big contract might be, ta least per year if not more years.
He’s the best pitcher to come along for a long time.
I think I heard the dodgers have 5 players who make 20mil+, the whole rest of the NL has 6.

Your post reminds me of a pretty funny story, years ago, when privately named stadia became popular, a fellow was watching Dodger’s Korean pitching sensation, Chan Ho Park being interviewed. His wife walked in, looked at the broadcast, and just presumed an Asian conglomerate named “Chan Ho” had bought the naming rites to Dodger Stadium ;)
