An odd-looking bit of rock mysteriously appeared in front of Opportunity rover in the beginning of January as the rover, waiting out the Martian winter, has not moved since the end of November, according to NASA.
The rock suddenly appeared on photographs taken by Opportunity Mars rover on Sol (Martian day) 3540 or January 8 Earth time, according to NASA’s website.
Photographs previously taken on Sol 3536 showed no trace of the rock. The body was named 'Pinnacle Island', according to Opportunity’s Pancam database descriptions.

It s pure nonsense. The rock is in both photos.

I’m glad somebody else saw it the way I did in the photos on the other thread. The rock is in both the “before” and “after” photos.

But, ... but, what about the “face” on that rock?
It’s an empty Jiffy Pop.
I would’t get too excited about it. There’s also something that looks like advanced civilization, like a solar panel or something, that mysteriously vanished between the two photos.

I don’t see it in both photos.
Even so, they are already pretty sure the rock was moved by the rover itself on it’s prior pass.
There’s no mystery.
It’s not a rock.
It’s an egg shell fragment.

This is the gentle way the Borg begin to prepare mankind ( or at least USA) to learn they exist and have taken us over.
What can I say, we Martians like to get our rocks off.
What Photo are you looking at? I see one it’s in and one it’s not. Nothing dubious and it doesn’t say what the slope of the terrain is so a rock rolling down a grade from wing or whatever happens all the time.
Yep, its there in both pictures.
The shadows & camera angles are just different.
