Alternatively, you could post something really disgusting to the list, and you would know who sees them by the number of “Ewww” responses you get. I can see that’s sort of the direction you’re going here.
I never got on the ping list, but look for this thread every Friday. I could tell you a true story about the image you posted. For now, I won’t do it.
Our dog has some bad farts. She let one rip in my pickup on the way to the farm, and I rolled down all the windows when it was in the low 30s.
Who cares. If they’re not here no troubles.
One evening, a very attractive young lady was sitting in a fine restaurant patiently awaiting her date. While waiting, she decided to make sure that she looked perfect for him. So the young lady bends down in her chair in order to get a mirror from her purse. Then just as the waiter walks up, she accidentally farts quite loudly. The lady immediately sat up straight, embarrassed and red faced, sure that everyone in the place had heard her. Quickly she turns to the waiter and demands, “Stop That!” The waiter looks at her dryly and says, “Sure lady. Which way was it headed?”
I wonder the same thing about the South Carolina ping list.
I inherited the list from DixieSass and SC Swamp Fox. There are well over 100 FReeper names there. Clean up the list? Can't see much advantage in that.
Current, and I had something witty to say but Mrs. EQ would have my head.
There are troubles. The more people on a list, the more work FR's server has to perform to get everyone notified. We went through a time a while ago, where longer lists were crashing the process, and we had to split them up.
Responsibly maintaining one's list(s) is a small part we can do to help FR function efficiently and successfully.
I routinely prune 3-4 names (sometimes more) from my list every quarter. I just check to see who has not posted in the last year, and they're gone.
See post #90. If you want, I can clean it up for you. I tend to remove those who haven’t posted in over a year. If that sounds good, I can do it for you as well.

Seems to me that’s a sysadmin job. We can’t post to a FReeper that’s not here. If the sysadmin really cared about defunct FReepers cluttering up the system, they would be deleting them and then the posting software would complain when we posted using our list.
