Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum, the man who traded for Tim Tebow, is now looking back on his career in New York. He's expressing some regrets, and guess who's right at the top?

"Obviously we made a couple mistakes," Tannenbaum told CBS Sports Radio, "trading for Tim Tebow most notably." The Jets dealt a fourth- and sixth-round pick to Denver to get Tebow in March 2012, and then proceeded to use him in no discernibly logical fashion whatsoever.

So signing Mark Sanchez to a 3 year extension with $20 MM guaranteed was not the first on your list Mr. Tannenbaum ?

It wasn’t the trade, it was the bumbling after the trade. They let Tebow rot on the bench instead of weaving him into an otherwise pathetic offense. I am not saying he should have been the starting QB, but they could have used him creatively and won more games. Frankly, he probably was a better option than Sanchez, but with the money they dumped into Sanchez, he probably wasn’t going to sit on the bench.

Oh yeah, those two picks would have netted TWO great QBs and he could have been wearing Superbowl rings by now! Tannenbaum is an idiot blaming Tebow for his own ineptitude.

O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum

Not only him, but more beside
Have factored in this downward slide
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum

As a Denver fan, I remember how peeved I was at losing Tebow for Manning. Today - of course - I’m a Manning-bot. Ha!

If they had started Tebow instead of Sanchez, we would have never had the, ‘Butt-Fumble’.

Yeah, there are a few active brain cells in the Jets organization.

Here's one I wrote many years back:

Elway on the twenty,
He drops back to pass.
But no one is open,
John cries out "Alas!"
The fans in the stadium
Begin to boo,
For Little John Elway
Got sacked on the two...

(To the music of "Away in the Manger")

the New York/Jersey community was unwilling to play a quarterback who thanked the Lord...

I was hoping that Belichick would do this when Tebow was with the Pats.

They could have used him in so many ways and I think Belichick could have come up with a large number of plays to really confuse some defenses. Tebow just wanted to be a football player in the NFL. I would have taken him at his word and used him as a slot back, a decoy, a place kick holder, a motion man to help with blocking...anything.

You just don't let someone with that much heart get away.
Oh well.

If this clown Tannenbaum knew what he was doing, he’d still be with the Jets.

The Jets organization was bullied by the bigots in the sports media into not giving Tebow a fair shot; and they’re not alone.

Tebow is radioactive for no other reason than he is a proud Christian.

No, Tebow said he wanted to be an NFL quarterback. If anybody could have found a way to use him otherwise it would have been Belichick but that's not what Tebow wanted.

Tannenbaum and Elway ruined his career, IMO.

Really! When I saw those lyrics I sung them in my head to the tune of Jingle Bells. It was pretty close!

You do realize that, if the Patriots beat Denver on Sunday....Manning and Tebow will have the same number of playoff wins at Denver...and Manning cost the Broncos about $50 million more w Manning (higher salary plus lost memorabilia revenue)

LOL.

Seeing as how The Jets haven't won a Super Bowl since 1969 (or thereabouts), I'm inclined to think their GM has made more than just that one mistake.

John Elway—who as the Stanford quarterback was never able to beat USC.
