U.S. hockey goalie told to remove "We the People" from Olympic helmet

women's Olympic hockey team has been ordered to remove an image from the United States Constitution from her helmet.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) considers the image to be 'propoganda,' and forbids it.

Goalie Jessie Vetter has been told to remove the image, particularly the line "We the People," her name and the Olympic rings.

"No writings of any kind to promote the country is allowed," helmet designer Ron Slater tells InGoal magazine. "A sort of 'our country is better than your country' kind of thing that the IOC frowns upon. Her name had to come off because they see it as self-promotion. They wanted everything to be team-based … Our original idea was 'land of the free, home of the brave,' and that would have had to have been removed as well."

Last Winter Olympics, the goalie from Buffalo Sabres had to put tape over something on his helmet. This isn’t something new.

What percentage of the olympic budget comes from US donations, US fees, US advertising, US marketing, US television licensing, US plunder, US taxes, etc.?

The UN and the olympics can go pound sand in central africa.

They forbid almost anything on these for everyone. It’s a long-standing rule, and not some assault on American liberty.

You would think the people on the Blaze website today were about to blow their heads off over this when the story showed up there.

The (federally chartered) US Olympic Committee: proselytizing homosexuals, yes. References to the US Constitution, no.

I despise the freaks currently in charge. I really, really do.

“the helmet pictured, looks horribly distracting.”

Maybe it’s supposed to be “distracting?” Like boxers who wear over-sized green and orange polkadot trunks, with “cha-cha” balls dangling/swaying on the legs.

And they probably thought they were safe by not having the “In God We Trust” on there...

oh how awful what a horrible person to have symbols of his home country on his helmet... why can’t he just use a crescent moon or a sickle and hammer?

That is exactly why goal tenders do it. To possibly distract a shooter...even for a millisecond. In hockey, sometimes that is all it takes to make the difference between a save and a goal. Cheesy started it with the stitch marks on his mask.

I hope Jessie buys a second helmet in plain white, and plaits a red circle and bar on the back. Or perhaps “Das Ist Verboten” in black calligraphy.

You mean Miller of the Sabres? He’s now the top goalie after Jonathan Quick from the LA Kings. He’s wicked here in L.A. can’t believe he was considered a has-been months ago due to his age.

Sorry for the rant, I;m a hockey freak..

“The US should boycott the Olympics”

F that. There’s not better way of feeling American than kicking other countries asses. Besides, the US has revenge on their side against canada after the last Olympics in hockey where both US men and women lost to canada in the gold medal game.

when are they going to get rid of the concept of “winning” the Olympics and just give a trophy to everyone who participates?

I quit paying any attention to the olympics when professional b.ball players were deemed eligible to play in the amateur games.

We used to be better before "Anything for a win" trumped, then became how we play the game.
