Katy Perry: I prayed for a big chest, won Wisconsin for Obama
Fox ^ | 1/21/14

Praying for a big chest, believing in aliens and winning Wisconsin for Obama—where do we begin? Katy Perry really opened up to GQ, giving the magazine plenty of interesting —and, OK, super strange— tidbits about her life.

Perry dished about her signature sexy bod, saying that her prayers were answered at the age of 11.

"I lay on my back one night and looked down at my feet, and I prayed to God. I said, ‘God, will you please let me have boobs so big that I can't see my feet when I'm lying down?’… God answered my prayers. I had no clue they would fall into my armpits eventually."

If that little anecdote wasn't enough, the “Roar” singer also discussed her thoughts on extraterrestrials, musing that maybe she should share her opinion on aliens with President Obama.

Yes, Katy Perry has a wonderful body...and that is the only fact in this whole article

Wonder how this hottie will feel after Obama taxes the Hades out of her multi million dollar fortune. Call me Katy

No .. not her ... just a photo gag off of the title.

I really didn't realize this was not satire.

Prior to teaching my chorus a new song, I previously took the time to analyze how many of each notes of the scale there were, and how many of each of the letters of the alphabet, and made a list. Then I handed copies of the list to each of the chorus members, and told them that if they just memorized the list, they would have learned the song, with all parts.

They got the idea of the importance of a visionary composer, arranger, and director to produce, with them, a soul-satisfying work of performing art.

Representing what I hear over the airwaves today as "music" is so devoid of creative genius that I only use it as a signal so alarming that I must rouse out of a deep sleep to shut off the raucous noise.

Of course, “Pop” music has always had its “dreck”.

For every Mozart (or Sousa, or Joplin, or Gershwin,or even the Stones), there were probably a thousand hacks that knew all the “mechanics’ of writing music and produced reams of it, to be played at parties and soirees, and them promptly forgotten.

Only the Great Music survives.

I have heard this name, but I honestly could not tell you who this blasphemer is.

But, of course, Faux News would want to discuss something so important.

That is an interesting way of going about it.

Kind of like Brother Guido inventing Solfeggio to help his choir remember the notes.

Another interesting thing to do would ALWAYS warm up your group to a note higher than any in any song you might sing. Then when you demonstrate the highest note in the song (perhaps an “F”) , remind them that they just finished singing a note a FOURTH above that one! It is a great way to inspire confidence on those high notes that SOUND high in context, but really aren’t.

Anyway, it works for me. :-)

Ask them if that music is “going to last for the ages”?

Not merely 20 years and “done”, but something people are going to turn to 50, 75, 100, 300 years from now.

Absolutely.

Incidentally, the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan show 50 YEARS ago next week.

“I Wanna Hold Your Hand” is still one of my guitar students’ most requested songs.

King Solomon: “Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?””

Katy Perry: “‘God, will you please let me have boobs so big that I can’t see my feet when I’m lying down?’”

Well to be fair, how many of our own prayers are more like the latter than the former?
Another thing that isn't mentioned is the age she was at the time she prayed — my little sister was reprimanded for praying about a die-roll on a board-game (when she was about six, IIRC) and it struck me as a little bit hypocritical: if God cares enough to count the hairs on one's head, and [in the person of Jesus] said let the little children come to me, why wouldn't He listen to what a little child considers important? (Or, another way to say it, if God is untrustworthy in the little things, why should you trust Him for the big things.)
