Court Will Decide if Husband Can Kill His Unborn Child by Removing Mom’s Life Support
Life News ^ | Cheryl Sullenger

A hearing will be held today at 3:15 p.m. to decide the fate of Marlise Munoz and her pre-born baby, now 22 weeks gestation. Her husband, Erick Munoz, will ask the court to order John Peter Smith Hospital to terminate life support for his wife and baby.

JPS Hospital is complying with a state law that requires hospitals to maintain life support for pregnant women in order to give their children a chance at survival.

munoz3Pro-life leaders, including Pastor Stephen Broden of Fair Park Bible Fellowship and Founder of National Black Pro-Life Coalition, plan to attend today’s hearing in support of Marlise and her child. Marlise has been on life-support since she collapsed at home in November when she was 14 weeks pregnant.

The Munoz family says they were told Marlise is “brain dead” although their baby continues to live and grow. However, the determination of “brain death” is a controversial one that is based on varying indicators, depending on who is making the diagnosis.

“The public has been given the erroneous impression that Marlise is a dead and decaying corpse. This assumption is completely false. Marlise’s heart continues to beat and she continues to nourish her pre-born baby. A rotting corpse cannot do that,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “As for the baby, we have information that diagnostic tests have not been done on the baby to support allegations that there are developmental anomalies, but even if the baby does have health issues, that baby still does not deserve to be killed.”

Even if the Munoz baby has suffered disabilities due to Marlise’s condition, numerous people have expressed an interest in adopting the Munoz baby even if he or she has special needs.

Abortion groups like NARAL have coldly sided with Marlise’s husband in calling on the hospital to kill Marlise and her baby.

munoz4“Some people want to decide who lives and who dies based on their personal criteria. If that was allowed, none of our lives would be safe. We simply cannot murder sick or inconvenient people just because we don’t want the hassle of caring for them. That is a dangerous road that will only end up unjustly depriving vast numbers of people of their right to life, just as we have seen with the issue of abortion,” said Newman.

The court hearing will be held today at the 96th District Court, 7th Floor, 401 W. Belknap in Ft. Worth at 3:15 p.m. It is open to the public. Pro-life supporters are encouraged to attend. A prayer vigil outside the court is also planned.

Also, a Prayer vigil in support of Marlise and her baby will be held outside JPS hospital on Sunday, January 26, at 3:00 pm.

Prayers up for Marlise and her unborn child.

I do not believe reports that the baby is damaged in any way. This is just an excuse for cold-blooded murder!

I don’t get it. I was just reading in People how much she wanted to be a mother and how much they were looking forward to this baby UNTIL she collapsed. Now they’re saying it’s inhumane to keep her alive as an “incubator”. There is something good that can come out of this and they’re just willing to kill it. It’s disgusting.

I think the Duggar’s family had a premature baby at 22 weeks. Josie I think. She is doing fine from the last TLC show we saw.

Can’t the baby be delivered by C-section? Babies a lot younger than 22 weeks have survived. So what’s the problem?

That alive, growing child is not an it. Don’t help the bastards steal the terminology and dehumanize that alive unborn child.

how is it that when a perpetrator kills a woman and her unbornd child hes is charged with Murdering...them both but when a mother “chooses” and abortion...or a father chooses to take his pregnant wife off life support thereby terminating the LIFE of the unborn child its not RECOGNIZED as Murder??

this seems so seldom discussed..and is never addressed by the choice bozoe

Insanity. . .if she was murdered the murderer would be charged with TWO murders. . .even if she was on the way to an abortion clinic.

Liberals and logic, can’t occupy the same universe.

Thought it was supposed to be the woman’s “choice”. I thought men weren’t supposed to have a say in abortion...must only be when they oppose it.

No baby has ever survived “a lot younger” than 22 weeks. Earliest survival is 23 weeks and change

You are incorrect, there is no pro death agenda on mom — she is dead. I agree with the keeping her ventilated and circulating for baby to go to viability, but mom is dead by the law and the clinical findings.

Thought it was supposed to be the woman’s “choice”.

In this case you don't want to go there. Apparently the woman left behind directives to not have life support. Fortunately state law has trumped that due to her pregnancy. So far.

I thought her husband just claimed that. I’m still rather suspicious in the husband’s role in this...

Of course, these were lawyer making these medical statements - lawyers who are hired by the kille.... uh, husband, who wants her to die. Really unbiased "experts" there.

I do not believe she left behind a directive. I belive it is her husband who is claiming that she didn’t want to be kept alive on life support.

Never trust your family.
