JACKSON, Miss. Dan Aykroyd may have dodged the police in "The Blues Brothers," but in Hinds County, he carries a badge.
Sheriff Tyrone Lewis swore the legendary actor and comedian in as a deputy during a ceremony Friday.
"It's an honor to join these ranks today. I understand the challenges that law enforcement face in today's world," Aykroyd said. "I had some experience in Louisiana. I was down there for almost 16 years under two chiefs helping with some initiatives. I know that resources are challenged and that every day there is something that comes up that the executives have to deal with that surprises them."

He's got the gut to be a cop. Has he ever killed any dogs?
BTW John Belushi would have been 65 today.
It’s got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It’s got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It’s a model made before catalytic converters so it’ll run good on regular gas.
Elwood: It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark... and we’re wearing sunglasses.
Jake: Hit it.
HINOS COUNTY!
BEWARE OF HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE!
Will he pull people over for not writing their insults in both French and English?
They're supposed to be making a Belushi movie, but Jack Black said no. He does not want to do a Belushi movie.
In honor of John

Give tha drummer some.....
He's both an actor (poor) and a comedian (fair) but you cannot call him legendary in either role.
“legendary” could just mean OLD these days when anyone appearing on TV can be called a “star”...
I don’t really care for him or Hanks but “Dragnet” was a funny movie.
Don’t suppose Dan has any interest in a ride-along with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department or the Jackson PD. Metro Jackson has the highest crime rate in Mississippi; think of a small version of Detroit and you’ve got the idea. Virtually everyone who can leave the city for safer locations (such as nearby Madison County) has already done so.
Dan really ought to take a camera and go along with the cops who are battling the bad guys in Hinds County. It would be an eye-opening experience.
Elvis, was DEA, I think.
They need to get an old Mt. Prospect police cruiser for him to drive. Cop tires, cop shocks...runs on regular gas...
