Within the 14th Amendment to the Constitution there is a clause that reads:
“No State shall... nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”
Most people who read that think it is good, and believe that here in America we are all equal. Many states and the federal government have laws... that grant superior rights to public employees over the rest of its citizenry. Here are three examples:
“CONSTITUTIONAL PROTECTION” FOR PENSION BENEFIT The public employee unions argue that under State law their pensions cannot be reduced. There are numerous examples of private sector workers who have had defined benefit pensions that were substantially reduced in bankruptcy. Apparently the government didn’t find it necessary to provide them the same kind of equal protection under the law.
FIFTY-PERCENT DISCOUNT ON GOVERNMENT FORECLOSURES
Imagine being able to buy a home for 50% the appraised value. Well, if you work for the government, you can do just that through the Housing and Urban Development’s “Good Neighbor Next Door Program.” One has to ask what business the federal government has awarding windfall financial lotteries to these “special people.”
FIFTY PERCENT DISCOUNT (OR MORE) ON FEDERAL TAXES
Another area of superior rights is in the disability scam. ...the fraud in SSDI is mere child’s play when compared to what many public safety union members get away with.
The public should be curious why we have so many disabled public safety workers on the payroll. Is it just a coincidence that so many become disabled right at the time they are eligible for full retirement... The answer is that public safety employees have superior rights, in direct conflict with the constitution.

It is not the public employees that are the problem. If the pay and benefits are too high - in many cases they are - then taxpayers should direct their wrath at the elected officials that agreed to the deals.
The public employee union reps are doing what they are supposed to do - push for their members. There is supposed to be an opposing force to keep that push in check but it has been absent.
Direct the wrath towards the politicians and the problem will be corrected. But if you are lazy and don’t point at the real problem you will make not progress.
My guess is that it's a lot easier to be disabled with respect to the requirements of a physically demanding job like fireman than it is to be disabled to the point of not being able to do a desk job.
It was too much to excerpt, but the article said that many safety officers had a desk job for several years before their retirement and then claimed back pain from sitting for disability right before retirement.
The public employee unions are the ones that get the politicians elected.
I have long held the opinion that NO PUBLIC SECTOR EMPLOYEE should be allowed to be the member of ANY Labor Union at all.
I have yet to hear any rational argument to the contrary on this, simply because there is none.

Nope. You elect the politicians. What local county or state official did you vote for last time? Did you check to see what state or county pension they already have? Did you check their voting record on pensions? Did you vote for them only because they said what you wanted to hear but did not look to see if their actions matched their statements?
How much money did you contribute to any campaign?
