I go through this several times a day. Doxies go out sliding glass door and cat immediately moves over and looks out window. Dogs want back in and cat sits there saying “make my day”.

Years ago, I had a Dobie and a seal point Siamese..Cat loved to sit right in the middle of the doorway...the Dobie wouldn’t even LOOK at the cat..she turned her head away..
