A man bought a first-class ticket and used it to have free meals and drinks at the airport's VIP lounge almost every day for nearly a year, Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported.
The itinerary for the ticket was found to have been changed more than 300 times within a year, and the owner of the ticket used it to enjoy the facilities at the airport's VIP lounge in Xi'an in Shaanxi, China.
The rare case was discovered by a China Eastern Airlines staff member, who then decided to investigate.
When the ticket's validity was almost up, the passenger cancelled it for a refund.
An airlines spokesman said there were no means to stop this act, even if it was done on purpose. However, many netizens lauded the passenger for being smart, rather than condemning him.
Although I agree with you about Chinese airlines in general, it seems that you have never flown Singapore Airlines. ;-)
Those people know how to treat their customers.
Eh. he had to keep going back an hour later.
It’s probably reasons like this that caused the US airlines to now charge hefty fees for changing you ticket’s itinerary.
Nah.
He bought a very expensive fully changeable ticket. Change it on the spot, as often as you like.
We have those too. Usually they are bought by business folks who need flexibility.
Swiss air seemed very awesome. 8hr flight to Zurich was long.
Comes from Confucianism and other deep layers of Chinese culture.
Their culture is at root one of amoral familism, which is very common, indeed the norm, for human societies.
People owe everything to their families, and nothing to anybody outside their families. Thus a scam that benefits the family at others' expense is admirable.

Agreed. Besides the good food, the 7 nozzle showers at BA LHR are something else. The Cathy Pacific lounge in Hong Kong is also quite scrumptious. The Swiss Air First Class Zurich Lounges even have sleeping "rooms". The Qatar Airlines Business Class lounge in Qatar is a whole terminal "island" with hot food prepared on request and unlimited pistachio deserts. I'm sure the First Class lounge there must be incredible.
So did Holly Ann and Mary back in ‘67 on my 1st R+R from vietnam...I still have the pictures!
(cant post them here though)
