With the possibility of the coldest Super Bowl ever coming this week, this story about CO2 concentration seemed appropriate.
Ryan Scott Welch writes:
Anthony as you know, many people dont know much about the earths atmosphere. For example, when questioned about how much CO2 is in our atmosphere most people give me a guess of somewhere between 30% and 70%. When I tell them that CO2 is only 0.04% or really about 395 ppm (parts per million) they generally look at me as if I was speaking some kind of foreign language. The layman simply cannot convert 0.04% of the atmosphere or 395 ppm into anything they can picture or relate to. In searching for some way to help the layman to understand the earths atmosphere, CO2, and the human contribution to atmospheric CO2, I came upon the idea of relating a sample of the atmosphere to something that nearly every person has seen, a football stadium.

Kinda like the nitrogen filled tire scam.
Helium yes. Nitrogen no. Helium makes your tires last longer since the basically float above the pavement. No. Really. LOL!
Make it easier on them; express it as four tenths of one percent. Otherwise they'll take away anything from four percent to forty percent when they hear zero point zero four!
human caused CO2 is less than 1/2 of a seat out of 100,000 seats (molecules).
With pictures/graphics it so easy that even a liberal could understan.............. Never mind. They don’t want to hear/see it.
Nitrogen fill is used in race car tires because it’s “dry” and the pressure rise with temperature is more linear.
Lib response. “BS. We all KNOW it’s 40%. The scientist known as algore told us so and we even bought some carbon credits from him to help counter the cursed CO2.”
[ Kinda like the nitrogen filled tire scam. ]
I fill my own tires up with 70% nitrogen gas!
[ Kinda like the nitrogen filled tire scam.]
How do you empty the tires completely before adding nitrogen?
You would need a tire machine and air compressor in a room filled only with nitrogen and the workers would have to be in spacesuits...
Makes me wanna run a scan where “Fill your tires with Argon because argon is inert and won’t decay your tires”...
They also use it on airplanes and other high performance machines.
Not sure how the average streetcar needs anything about the 78% concentration we are accustomed to using.
WOW...what an INCONVENIENT TRUTH!!
I imagine this oughta get Al Go3re’s “chakra” going...
After all, it’s “settled science”!
I did notice some of the posters on WUWT were taking the article to task but to me it’s a simple way to show how “much” we contribute as opposed to natural means. Of course if you dig deeper and toss in a bunch of algoreitisms you can show it’s much more complicated but is simply a way to show some that we aren’t much of a problem. “Save the plants. Drive your truck!”
So does hydroplaning on bald tires... lol
But it makes them sound screechy
Heat build up in the tire caused less expansion in the gas in the tire. Equals less messing with chassis and suspension set up.
Every once in a while we would have a customer ask us to fill their new tires with nitrogen. We had one guy that would say, "We can put 78% nitrogen in them for free. Will that do?"
more like 80%
I also include 0.04% CO2 so that there’s not as much in the atmosphere, thus reducing my carbon footprint.
That would be four hundredths of one percent. Yeah, math is hard... Just tell them "almost nothing" next time.
