Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has proposed a far-reaching new law that would force taxpayers to cover the costs of placing tracking devices on autistic children after 14-year-old autistic child Avonte Oquendo was found dead last week. The tracking devices would not be implanted, but would instead be attached to watches, ankle bracelets, belts, or shoelaces. “The program would be completely voluntary for parents and run by local law enforcement,” Schumer’s office announced.

In the retirement community where my parents live, it's not unusual for Alzheimer's patients to be tagged by their family or their care facility. My father isn't, but his building is locked up 24/7.
With this technology available, I would certainly use it if I had a child who was particularly vulnerable to getting lost. In fact, I'll mention it to my friend who has a child with Down Syndrome who is a "runner." She probably already knows, but it can't hurt.

Voluntary for the parents, involuntary for the taxpayers.
Not a federal issue.
The program will be completely voluntary... for now.
To force taxpayers to foot the bill. If the parents don’t care enough to cover the costs, why should we?

Autistic first, seniors next, those deemed by government to have mental problems, tea party members deemed by government to be terrorists and/or racists, etc..
What Chuck E Cheez REALLY wants is tracking devices on all gun owners, Tea Party members, Oathkeepers, veterans, Christian worshippers, etc.
If the public allows tagging of autism victims then the rest won’t be far behind.
I think they should be implanted in senators first!
